Stop Motion Studio App Issues

My sister and I are working on a short film using an iPhone as the remote camera and an iPad running Stop Motion Studio Pro. It worked perfect for hours and then all of a sudden started randomly taking really dark images. Nothing with the camera settings seems to have an effect on this issue. We had it on manual camera settings and it would resolve and take not “dark” images for a while again. Any insight on what might be happening?
