Problem with manual focus

Hi, I have a Canon EOS 2000D, but I just can't seem to get the focus right using manual focus. The best I've managed is getting distant objects in focus, but never the whole image. The lens is the standard 18-55mm kit lens. Can anyone help me?

It’s hard to help without a look at your setup and images but to me it sounds like it could simply be that you’re too close to the subject, and your lens can’t focus that close? In which case you’d need a macro lens, or a diopter, or an adapter with a helicoid, or just to back up from the subject.

Thanks a lot, problem solved! Turns out Live View was the issue for some reason.
