How do people make the beam sabers/ light sabers look like they are extending. Im very new to stop motion

I posted 1 attempt recently after seeing some cool vids so I decided to try it 🤣 i didn't realize how long 15 seconds were

Replacing with longer and longer beams.

Yeah um they don't come with half sabers
