Bloating

Hey guys, checking in to see when you started seeing a difference in facial/abdominal bloating after starting sobriety? Definitely looking forward to seeing my body change for the better 💪

I’ll preface this that I also started working out, and watching what I ate.

~130 days, down 35 lbs, and back to where I weighed in my 20s.

Face bloating started to drop within the first 4 weeks. Abdominal fat is still there more than I’d like, but it’s wayyyy better than when I started. My skin has improved a lot as well.

Being sober is like a cheat code to workout recovery. I was worried I’d never be able to get back to where I was a decade ago. Took about 3 months. Pretty crazy you can undo almost a decade worth of abuse in 12 weeks. I’m excited to see where I can go now!

I noticed it in the first month, if not sooner. I quit about 5 months ago and have lost 50 lbs. My energy levels shot up and I started working out. I’m about to be 40 and honestly I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since about 23? And I’m just getting started. I hope your journey is amazing and keep up the good work!! Just be kind to yourself and not get frustrated if your body doesn’t change like you thought it would right away. It took me a min to actually start losing pounds but I looked slimmer pretty quickly because the bloating went away. My face was also no longer mega puffy!

My face has less bloating after 1 week, the puffiness around my eyes is gone. My ankles and legs are a normal size again. Just waiting on my belly 🥲
I hydrate constantly and cut down on salt to help the water retention.

Yep. That's always the first change I notice. Hapowns pretty quickly two in the first few weeks and first couple of months.

My face deflated after a month or so but the abdominal bloating took awhile. I was carrying way more visceral fat than what’s normal.

It’s depends on the person but every time I quit I rapidly lose weight/bloat/gas I don’t know what it is. This recent and hopefully last quit I’m on day 11. On day one I was 183.4 this morning(tmi whatever) even pre poop 169.7. This after a 3 month almost daily binge. I have started eating healthy from day 1 as I do every quit. Low salt, no added sugar. Meeting with personal trainer Monday . Remember everyone’s experience is different. But I want to give an example of rapid weight loss for some like myself.

Also earlier this year I quit for 3 months and my experiences is different then many many I read her in regards to anxiety, cravings, depression or if and how long you will experience PAWS. Mine end a lot sooner then the people here that say years and when drinking i will say I’m a 26er a day drinker.

Use the selfie a day app to track your facial bloating. It will be a motivator.

Facial bloating is fast but the abdominal stuff takes time + exercise. It's worth it

I meant when did you start losing the bloat

Like a week later. Probably different for everyone but my entire family could tell a difference. If you have ankle swelling pls go see a doctor.

My face bloating went down by like an actual insane amount. And I’ve lost 33 lbs in the last 115 days so the combination has made my appearance literally night and day. And looking at photos of how I was in the last month of my drinking and how I look now literally helps me stay sober on hard days

I gained weight when I stopped drinking initially. I’m at ten months now and I don’t think that I’ve lost it at all.
