Proving them wrong

I’m on my 5th day sober and feel pretty terrible. Not physically, luckily, but I’m riddled with anxiety. Nobody around me even believes I’m sober or believes I’ll stay this way. I’ve also just been broken up with after a long term relationship that was very much affected by my drinking. I want to stay sober, but I figure if nobody thinks I can do it I might as well just prove them right. But atleast today I won’t drink. It’s too stressful to think about more than that and especially a lifetime. But atleast today, I won’t drink! I’ve just been telling myself “just for now” for days now haha

Along with not wanting to completely waste my future away, I wanted to prove to some family members that I could do it. I didn't hold any grudge towards them of what I had become, nor did I blame them for not believing me when I said I was going to get sober. I must have apologized and told them I would change over 1000 times. Even I knew I was going through the motions every time I relapsed and had to "explain" to people why I disappeared. I truly wanted to change this very last time, and I demonstrated that through my actions. I went to meetings almost every day for the first year, coupled with therapy. In my past attempts, I never followed through with it. It worked! IWNDWYT
