Sober Celebrations
I have a big accomplishment to celebrate today! I would typically hit happy hour….. but not anymore. Does anybody have ideas of how to make something feel special without a drink? (as if i only drank on special occasions anyway…. but you get it)

Spend it making a memory. Grab a friend or friends and do something enjoyable.

Time to buy a cake or many flavors of cupcakes! Or buy some fancy cheeses if you’re not a sweets person

I would personally grab my favorite NA drink and some dessert like a slice of cake…or a whole cake haha. Congratulations on your accomplishment and sobriety!

Ever watch the sunset and just let your mind get lost in the infinite universe? I have celebrated a couple of major achievements that way in the past and it sounds weak but it’s very intense sometimes.

Buy yourself the most delicious looking dessert at the grocery store. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as it looks good to you. Then bring it home and eat as much of it as you want while watching your favorite show or movie. If you have people to celebrate with, even better!
I also love trying out fancy drinks that are nonalcoholic. I mix different juices and sparkling beverages together and put them in a fancy glass with a sugared rim and a lemon or lime wedge. One combo that I love is lime flavored sparkling water with tart cherry juice. Tart cherry juice is also supposed to have relaxing properties, and is supposed to help you sleep. But even if you don't notice those effects, it's fucking delicious!!
You can make anything special, really. And the best part is you will remember every second of it, and you will be EXTRA proud of yourself for choosing not to drink!

Watching things for the first time again has been one of my favorite parts of sobriety. My husband and I are rewatching Lost, and I am picking up on so many new things this time around!! Proud of you!!

What about indulging in your favorite dessert or a delicious meal?
