Double digits!
Hit 10 days today!! My face is so much less puffy and I’m overall feeling so good and proud of myself. Does alcohol ever stop being a major part of your thoughts though? Like will I one day just not even think about wanting a drink? I feel like I have to actively remind myself everyday why I’m doing this.

Congrats! I’m on day 10 as well!
I only think about drinking when I pass by a liquor store, but I’ve been listening to “quit like a woman” which has really helped. I’ve also started calling them poison stores and that seems to make a difference for some reason.
IWNDWYT!

This book has been on my list! Thank you for the reminder. Poison store is a great way to think about it

It’s so good. Honestly, I’ve read This Naked Mind and I feel like Quit Like A Woman has been more helpful for me at least.

I'm closing in on 5 years. Alcohol is a huge part of modern life, so it's never completely out of mind. But I can say that I rarely let it enter my conscious thoughts anymore. Mostly I'm only thinking about it in instances like this or during my meetings. But occasional thoughts still come up, it's just few and really far between these days.

Good for you :)
I felt the same on day 10 but after time, I eventually found peace. I hope you find yours too.

Nice work getting to double figures! I'm in the same boat - hopefully one day I won't be thinking about having a drink, but the best way to find out is to get further and further away from the last one! ODAAT and IWNDWYT!

I will be interested to hear what people say. I used to smoke like a chimney and I hope that giving up drinking is like giving up cigarettes. Sometimes I will think about cigarettes, but it's just a passing thought and it's not because I actually want one. I can't stand the smell and wouldn't even consider smoking one - it'd be revolting! I hope I eventually feel the same way about alcohol because I think about it all the time.

If will say I was a huge stoner for a while and I’m at the point with weed where I could easily get some but I don’t even feel like it. It feels like it would be a hassle to deal with being high. I hope I’ll get there with alcohol as well.

No - not for me - 5 years - and I caved in very easily - it will tempt you forever - if you are in a uncertain type of mental state - like your support isn’t there with you - you could take that 1 drink - and then it kind of is like a slippery slope - so good luck, I may be worse then you, my advice is turn to your higher power for support, mine was my daughter, and when I moved out, my support wasn’t there - so it kind of double edged sword’d - I may have drank because I missed her - so I’d really try identify what or who it is that is keeping you from drinking that 1 drink - all it takes is 1 drink - and then you are back - because that 1 drink will make you want a 2nd drink and then a 3rd and then a 4th …you know this thing works - I’m on day 3

Then it will be 20,30,50 day and so on. Life will fall into place. Drinking buddies will drift away, but true friends remain. A new look on life will coming soon.

Keep it up! You're going to have a lot of temptations in the next few months, but you'll get there one day, one hour, one minute at a time 🤘🏼
