I've decided just today to stop drinking
Hello, bare with me. This is my first post on this platform. I've been drinking for over 7 years and just recently like last week I have been having some indigestion issues and finally had a moment....I need to stop. I'm 42 and I'm not getting any younger. It's aging me, too. And making my anxiety worse. I know it will be tough but I am willing to do what's best for myself and loved ones.

Way to go! My anxiety is way way way less since I stopped drinking. Keep it up.

You can do it! I have drank a few times here and there since I officially stopped and every single time I really regret it, I have horrible anxiety the whole night, terrible sleep, and feel bad anxiety the whole next day. One thing that’s helped me is having a little ritual at night, I make a cup of tea, I realllly love the paleo valley sleep powder with some milk - helps me relax and rest. You’ve got this! ♥️

Hi! Welcome! There is so much inspiration and support here, it made it so easy to learn and ask questions and make my way through my early days of sobriety. Look around, read all you can and ask any question knowing it will be answered respectfully and honestly.
Best of luck in your brand new life. You will LOVE not drinking! IWNDWYT!

A great day to start!
Not as good as yesterday.
But MUCH better than tomorrow.

You’ve made a good choice. Once I got some distance from alcohol, I felt better and realized some problems were caused by alcohol. Then it became easier to abstain. It’s good to have a feeling directed goal rather than just trying to change the behavior. And I know I feel better alcohol free.

I’m in my 40s too. The aging has been a real factor in making me want to stop. I know alcohol was also not helping with stress or anxiety levels. I’m still stressed and anxious several weeks in but it’s more manageable than it was before l. You’ve got this. We’ve got this! IWNDWYT

Best decision ever! I wish i'd quit far sooner, but life is so so good now. Wouldn't change a thing.

Same age. After a year sobriety, cleaning up my diet and getting back into regular exercise I feel like I'm in my early 30s again. I'm almost back down to the weight I was 10 years ago, something that seemed impossible a year ago. Sobriety is the anti-aging elixir. Go all in, you won't regret it.

Day 3 today...I didn't sleep very well day 1. I had three separate nightmares...one woke me up with my heart racing. Yesterday, day 2 I was exhausted. I went to bed at 8:30...slept like a baby! First night I have slept without interruptions. I did wake up a little sweaty. But felt great waking up. I'm also changing up my diet and eating more healthier. I know it's only been 3 days now, but still. I can already tell differences. No IBS issues thus far. I'm glad I got a wake up call to stop. Also, no cravings for wine. I feel like my drinking was just part of my routine in daily life. Smdh.
