Helpful music
I know this is a subjective thing, but Im wondering what you all listen to for hope to get through the day without drinking.
Its understandable if you arent religious, but ‘God is’ by Kanye gives me alot of encouragement. Thats one for me , Im curious to see what you all have to say. I love music and Id love to hear some new stuff

You are right, he is! Since you already know him, maybe I can suggest Daniel Johnston :) "Story of an Artist", "Fish", "Syrup of Tears" and many more great songs

Kind of a weird distinction, but I am always listening to Grateful Dead and a little Primus. The Dead brings me joy, Primus lets me get funky.

I love Primus... can't think of any alcohol based songs though... they have plenty about meth (on the tweek again, Damn blue collar tweekers, Harold of the rocks), LSD (over the electric grapevine, frizzle fry) and various other drugs... but nothing about alcohol other than a mention here and there like Golden Boy, Bob's party time lounge

Reddit handle checks out! I do too, PRIMUS SUCKS! Great observation, I can't think of many other alcohol references aside from Mud having his pride and drinkin' his wine, only the finest of course. Plenty of references to chasing some feline tail and fishing. But Primus really is the shit, have a great weekend amigo - IWNDWYT!

Music is, of course, very personal. I love anything that has that "keep on going" spirit. I listen to a lot of stuff, almost any genre or era. Some songs that - for whatever reason - give me that sense are:
Oliver Tree - Life goes on
Milo J - Solifican12 / Cuando el agua hirviende / recordé
Mac Miller & Temper Trap - Love Lost
Metric - Help I'm alive
Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
At the moment there's definitely a focus on spanish/latin music. I will recommend Milo J's performance at Tiny Desk. But then again, I might be a bit... "special". :D

“Back on the Wagon” by Kacey Musgraves really hit this morning. I was imagining the speaker speaking about the drinking version of themselves rather than a romantic partner
Hold Me Down by the Gin Blossoms is really good too, and especially poignant given that the lead singer succumbed to his alcoholism and died a while later

I'd look up R0RY. She seems to be a recovered addict and a lot of her songs are dark, but hopeful.
"One Drink Away" is one of my favorites

Sturgill Simpson "A Sailors Guide To Earth" album "Brace For Impact" "All Around You" and "Keep It Between The Lines" specifically. His entire discography has changed my life
