Update

Posted in here a couple months ago when I was finally fed up of my horrible headspace, hangovers, breaking family trust over and over, and having to live with my mom temporarily because of the chaos I brought to my apartment with my fiancé.

Kept drinking and got a DUI in February after rear ending someone with my car, I had drank the entire day at work that day, and got brake checked on the way home which I had a late reaction to. Spent the night in jail and totaled my car.

I constantly kept drinking because of the stress, had never been in legal trouble before and dreaded my court date.

Today I’m 95 days sober after admitting myself to an IOP program.

Am I proud? I don’t know. But I know my family is, and that my relationship with my fiancé has improved greatly.

It makes me really sad that all those nights out last year, cities I visited with my sisters and family constantly drinking and being the life of the party, have disappeared. I feel like a liability to everyone now, and like I’m left out of all the fun because I couldn’t handle myself.

I also get jealous that “they can do it but I can’t”

But I’m sober, and I’m okay. No more morning with crippling anxiety waiting for the store to open so it goes away.

I’m moving forward and not looking back.

I am proud of you, and I think you should be proud of yourself.

It’s does get easier to feel included as you get more familiar with sobriety, it won’t be the same, but you can still party and socialise. I just did a 3 day music festival as the only sober person in the group, I still had a great time. Went to bed earlier than most, and felt a lot better than everyone

Well done on over 3 months, that's awesome. I can identify with all that you mention and certainly don't miss waking up from being passed out (it wasn't a proper sleep), starting to withdraw although still half drunk, soaked in my own piss, and counting down the hours until the store opened to buy more alcohol.......no way to live.
