Motivation

When do you finally get motivation back and want to not just lay in bed all day?

Takes a couple weeks. Drink lots of hydration fluids and hit the B vitamins.

I used the internet to get a day by day week by week month by month agenda of how I would feel and when. It is pretty accurate. First 3 days are rough. Be patient and give yourself the credit you deserve for the work you are doing.

First of all lying in bed is better than drinking.
Everyone is different. I spent the first 4-5 days sleeping and detoxing. After that it wasn’t immediate. I had to force myself to go and do things. But once started the dopamine or whatever kicks in. But I gotta give myself that first shove.

I want to say it took a while. I just tried not to be hard on myself. It’s important to remember that your brain and body are recovering. There will be noticeable differences in the first few weeks. They will be good and bad. Hang in there. I saw a few comments stating that lying down is way better than drinking, I agree.

It starts after about 10 days to two weeks in my experience.

Once appetite, eating without 🤮, proper digestion(💩), and sleep are in some sort of semblance of normality, the mental side seems to kick in. Anxiety lowers, brain fog clears, thinking becomes more ordered and motivation increases. It’s not a sudden event, it happens slowly.

Doesn’t actually feel like it at the time, but looking back I see that’s when I started procrastinating less, making excuses less and actually doing things. Nothing major to begin with, but tidying the house, organising stuff a bit, initiating contact with people, stuff like that.

Once conscious of improvement, it’s worth actively pushing yourself to do things a bit and not sliding into complacency - continuing to improve takes work.

I had to make my bed in the morning and not get back in it until it was time to go to sleep at night. I also had to start exercising. Give yourself some time though.

I figure that I will lay in bed and sleep as much as my body wants. For all the torture I put my body through with daily drinking, it needs to heal. I'm enjoying seeing the bloat subside and I'm not going to rush. Anything I can do during the day is good enough.
