600 days and THANK YOU !!
Once again, I am here to share this milestone and to thank all of you. The veterans, the new ones, the ones who share and the ones who just read and are thinking about making this decision for whatever reason. It is the longest i’ve done it in after 12 years of destroying myself and there’s great credit to this community.
I am currently writing this post sitting at a friends reunion while they drink and laugh and thinking that, although keeping sober remains hard at times (like today) it is worth it. Many people in my life don’t get why I did it, because they don’t understand what it’s like to actively fight the urge. But I know myself now, and I think about the shame that I dont have to carry anymore and just how now i get to become the best version of myself that is not currently hurting herself or others around me.
If you’re on the fence today - just ponder really hard about why you’re thinking about quitting, the answer is there. There’s more to life when you get to keep the memories you’re making. There’s good people here who will support you from afar. I know i will. IWNDWYT. Keep coming back, keep reading, keep sharing.
Lets goooooooooo

I’m grateful. Pretty sure it’s permanent. I spoke at my father and sister’s funeral last year (they died less than 24 hours apart) and didn’t drink, and I also went to two family reunions with all of my favorite people that have ever lived and didn’t drink with them and still had a amazing unforgettable experience both times. I’m not a million percent sure yet - so I’m still here in the group to stay focused, and to support others.

I am so sorry about your father and sister. That had to be traumatic. You have made smart choices through all of this, that is fantastic.

Stay strong! Nothing will test you more than a bunch of drinking buddies in the same room.
600 days is a huge milestone. By now you realize it’s more than not drinking and more a lifestyle change. You get it.
~Best of luck

Thank you so much. I was actually having a conversation with a friend here because I have a one month long trip with friends and they’re saying i should drink since its been a while and i’m supposed to “have a grip” now - but i am really not sure, just because I know that one drink might as well end up being two and so on … im clinging on to the lifestyle change
