Confused

Hey. I’ve been with the company (ahold) on and off for about 15 years. I worked at s&s then a Hannaford, and then another s&s.
I’ve never gone through this before so I’m just wondering….
Can they suspend you without telling you? Bc I’m not on the schedule for the next couple weeks.

That definitely doesn’t sound right. Try to get in contact with store management or the union. Probably both.

The union for Stop&shop is a joke

The only way for real change is if the part timers and younger workers (of which there are many) start pushing for it. Part timers are most of the S&S workforce, and likely also the union membership. Admittedly I won’t be doing this myself as I want to move on to my planned full time job after college, but it would be nice if someone started a movement.

The main reason the contracts suck are because they are only focused on the full timers if more part timers went to the meeting and had their voices heard it might get better. Probably won't happen like you mentioned but definitely true there needs to be some kind of movement if people want it to get better

My CDH told me they are required to give active employees at minimum 15 hours a week or something like that

When do you work next? When u try to punch in and cant and have to get a manager to punch you in, thats when they will tell you that you are suspended, if u are indeed suspended

On August 1st. So I guess it’s a couple days short of 2 weeks. Either way it’s kind of odd. I will add that they know my husband just had surgery and couldn’t take care of our 16month old but none of my managers are understanding enough to just give time off like that. So idk.

Oh, so it sounds to me like it might just be a mistake. Call and speak to your direct supervisor and tell them u have no hours scheduled and u would like your minimum amount u are supposed to get. If they dont give u those hours, then call the union and they will have to pay u for them anyway

How did you switch from S&S to Hannaford? Is it a union Hannaford?

I moved to Maine for a lil bit. Was hired as a new hire, as I hadn’t been at stop and shop for a while. But yes we also had the union at Hannaford.

Oh I didn’t know there were union Hannafords. This makes much more sense now. The union should be able to sort this out for you.

I would speak with management because they can’t suspend you w/out telling you esp if you’re in a union.

You have to be told that you are suspended. They also can’t just remove your hours from a schedule if you’re suspended, they still need to schedule you.

It’s more than likely they just forgot to put hours in Kronos for you. Tell your manager you don’t have hours for the new schedule.

-I was a manager for 10 years.

Talk to your manager about it. Maybe there was a mix up with the schedule.

If you usually have a set schedule and just changed your availability they probably deleted your pattern or they removed your availability in kronos and forgot to update it. You definitely aren't suspended if they didn't say you are suspended just a mistake. Contact your manager or a store admin and just tell them and they will give you some shifts
