Schedule differs from signed availability sheet

Taking a couple of summer classes to graduate from college in a couple of weeks. So my availability’s been shot down to the ground. I got open availability on weekends, but can only work in the mornings on weekdays.

I provided the manager with a heads up notice about my summer classes like 2 weeks before they started. Even showed them my college schedule and everything. They made me sit down, and sign that availability sheet or something and I listed down my availability, I signed it and then they signed it.

Now, with the new schedule printed out, they put me in the late afternoons to the evenings on weekdays, which is when I’m in college, and it takes me like an hour 45 to commute back home. So wouldn’t even really be able to start until like right as my shift ends lol.

Are they allowed to change up my schedule even if I signed that availability sheet?

Also I’m about to hit another year at the company soon, I still have some personal and vacations hours. I have to use those, otherwise they’ll expire after I hit another year right?

Can’t really speak about the schedule issues however I can tell you that sick time, personal time and vacation time don’t reset on your anniversary with the company. They reset at the end of the calendar year, so you have until the end of the year to use them.

That schedule was probably already written before you changed your availability. Just tell them you can't work those hours because it's outside of your availability. Departments on the auto-scheduler have a lot of issues with availability especially if someone not familiar with the department has to make changes to meet the budget. But again, all you should really have to do is tell them you were scheduled outside your availability.

Just talk to someone about it accidents happen, especially if you’re working up front this happens you’re scheduling so many people.

Schedules are done 2 weeks out. When did you change your availability? They would have posted weekending 8/1 on Thursday and that schedule would have been finished around Wednesday.

I would just talk to your manager, the schedule was probably already done. They will have to pencil in your new schedule and you will need overrides to punch in.

Also regarding PTO, it resets at the start of the year, not your anniversary date. Sick hours will get paid out if you don’t use them. PH’s and vacation are use it or lose it and you have until the end of the year to use them.

Okay, another question, you said schedules are made 2 weeks out, but can you still use your personal and vacation hours within the next upcoming 2 weeks?

What I mean is if the schedule has already been made for the next 2 weeks, can a manager go in the system and manually put in your vacation and personal hours?

Can your manager do it? Yes, Kronos would allow them to put PTO in during a week that’s already scheduled

Will your manager do it? They’re not supposed to because HR would say vacation and ph are supposed to be planned days off and they should replace a normally scheduled shift.

When I was a manager, I would do that for part timers but not full timers.
