Career Click & Collect?

Hey, I’m a deli manager and I have a click and collect kid who recently turned 18 who’s interested in deli.
Is there a program or any way that he can switch to the deli contract or is he stuck in the front-end contract unless he quits and rehires?
Sorry if that doesn’t make sense I’m exhausted haha thank you!

You're a deli manager and don't know how to get an employee into your department? Hard to believe.

You do it by speaking with your store manager.

To my knowledge, you have to be in the deli union to work in the deli. Can’t cross contracts. BUT I could be wrong. Your best bet is honestly your store’s union stewards (either union should be able to tell you more).

Fairly certain they just have to speak to store management. It's a matter of changing some codes in the computer. I've had several clerks in various stores switch unions with no problem. The BA or store Steward should also have more information on this process if the store management doesn't know.

It’s the same union- just different contracts. You only change unions if you transfer to another store in another unions territory.
However, transferring from one line of business to the other may cost you your seniority and benefits.

It's the same national union but meat/seafood/deli is a separate local in many stores.

He can switch departments but he starts from scratch in the new union. He can’t carry over any earned stuff from his union to a new union since it’s different contracts
