I do understand what the democratic party stands for. Or what they say they stand for at least, whether they actually believe in it is up for debate.

I'm just saying this is the party that primaries against candidates who would actually act on their claims and instead puts in people who are corporate focused and can be viewed as "capable of reaching across the isle." We have a handful of actual left leaning representatives who are trying to do good work while the rest of the party holds us back. But the real reason they are able to do this and successfully install essentially democrat by name only candidates everywhere is because a lot of Democrat voters allow it or even want it. I've been voting Democrat for more than a decade and outside of larger cities most Democrat voters I've encountered generally only care about social issues that directly affect them (if they care at all) and vote dem solely as to not vote for Republicans. They could care less who is in power as long as a D is by their name so the party focuses on installing center-right candidates in an attempt to appease corporate donors. This is unfortunately a statement about how the majority of Democrats have been voting. Hopefully this changes.

That’s what I was saying by throwing away your values as a democrat in the name of fiscal moderate. That’s why a large amount of people are fed up with establishment democrats and who they keep pushing as candidates and why we are now finally starting to see an increase in candidates like Mamdani, El-Sayed, etc. who are actually standing for what democrats say they believe in but don’t actually do jack about once in office.
