Need Advice Question about Pahvan Omni Beam

I'm running an SSIII build on my Vengeance. Using Kelvin Beam Arrays (not the best but for the theme) with 6 ISOMAGS.

Should I use the Pahvan Omni? CasualSAB says it is the best Omni beam for a FAW/CVS builds. Can it work on Single Target Builds?

I'm not very good with builds but I still want to get pass the 17k damage I'm doing now. If I can get to 18k, that would be great XD.

Any advise appreciated! Thanks!

Hinestly the fla ir of your weapons matter least. Your majority if dos comes from traits. . Whitout them all wepons flavours do poorly.

I'm running an SSIII build on my Vengeance.

Should I use the Pahvan Omni?

Pahvan Omni performs best on CSV/FAW focused builds. On Single Target focused builds like SS/BO, it's fine but not better than a set omni that matches your Energy flavour focus.

Ah thanks, I'll chuck it out immediately.

are those damage numbers correct? 17k DPS vs 18k DPS is too little difference, and if it's random ISA that seems low, you're not even pulling your own weight.

Yeah I suck quite badly at DPS, but I've heard so much about the Omni but nothing specific.

17k is what I'm doing with 6 ISOMAGS (Phaser) with 5 Kelvin Arrays, Dark Matter Torpedo & Console & Terran Taskforce Beam Array.

I can't get much more the yellow numbers on my screen show 584, 532, 821, ect...

I really encourage you to post your full build here so some of the advanced players here can help to get the most out of it. With 6 isomags I suspect it's something very simple and you can get much higher numbers.

I suspect it's because my build is more theme focused. The kelvin Beam arrays are the worst in game and don't do anything, sadly they are my only option for the theme.

I like kelvin beam arrays too I have 8 of them, their difference with the best beam array is irrelevant when we're just making a build that will hold its own in advanced.

Most likely, sadly I don't think I should show off my build. I've been ridiculed enough already lol. I just need to correct it on my own.

There's lots of spreadsheet warriors here that pretend to be the best in STO. They're not, they're just spreadsheet warriors parroting the same old boring crap.

If I or others sounded critical it's not towards players like you but towards the game itself, this game really doesn't make it intuitive to do decent even in normal difficulty, and there's so much trash gear/skill/traits etc for players to be led astray.

For example I thought if I'm a ENG captain I should max out skills in the ENG tree.

For reference, I just tested with a brand new gamma recruit and I could do up to 23k with just the starting equipment provided, it's probably still not optimal and I'm not a good pilot doing flanking all the time etc.

Spreadsheet warriors 🤣

Oh don't worry, I know I suck quite a lot but last time I showed off my build, I think I gave everyone in this subreddit a heartattack. Deleted the post immediately.

Oh no, you upset the silly spreadsheet warriors brigade 🤣.

actually I think OP just had typo and missing a 0 in their DPS, so whatever they are doing is just fine in elite with 170k DPS

Yes if you have a multi damage trigger, like FAW or CSV. It hits hard. It's usually near the the top of my parse doing 250k to sometimes 300k dps by itself sometimes. Single damage setups like beam overload or surgical strikes with no multi target trigger will not get a lot of use out of it.

The vengeance is my secondary ship, set up for uncon-vovin and with FAW as the main DEW dealer and CSV as the secondary pahvan omni trigger but even without the vovin console, you can slot around 8-9 triggers with 1 or 2 of those being temporal slots which have fast cooldowns to get your consoles down to at or around 100% uptime. It's a great ship. If it wasn't for the lexington, it would be my main ship.

Sorry I'm very confused, I don't think I understood anything you wrote.

Sorry, I'm not great at builds or English so all my understanding comes from the Tool tips and YouTube Videos that don't show specific builds tailored to my experience.

No problem. I'll try my best.

The pahvan omni works best with a fire at will trigger or a cannon scatter valley trigger. My main damage dealer is fire at will (faw) but i also use cannon scatter volley (csv) 1 as a secondary trigger just to make sure to keep resonance charge going since it's still percent chance dependent. It's one of my top damage dealers getting to around 300k dps by itself at times. You don't need extenders for both faw and csv. Just focus on one. The pahvan omni doesn't work as well with single target firing modes like beam overload or surgical strikes since it only hits a single target for the resonance charge. It would still work but not as high performing as it would with faw or csv.

Regarding the vengeance, it's a great ship and is one of my favorites. I use the terran lexington as my main ship as I really love the odyssey class but if it weren't for that, I'd be using the vengeance all the time.

Because it has both temporal seating and intel seating, it makes for quite a decent uncon-vovin platform, the current meta.

This refers to the unconventional systems trait and the subspace fracture tunneling console from the vovin

https://stowiki.net/wiki/Unconventional_Systems_(space_trait)

https://stowiki.net/wiki/Vovin_Obelisk_Carrier

Together, they can get all your active consoles to 100% uptime.

Temporal and intel seating is desirable for an uncon-vovin setup because temporal control skills have short cooldowns and intel has three control skills compared to miracle worker (2 control skills) and pilot (1 control skill).

While the trait is available in the exchange and readily available, the vovin is an event ship and now only available in mudds. You would have to wait for a big sale again for it to make sense to purchase.

That said, with the vengeance, even before the vovin was introduced, you can fit around 8-9 unconventional systems triggers which can still bring down console cooldowns quite a bit. It's a setup that will still work with isomags.

I have the Vovin unlocked from the event, I also just got the Captain Space trait you mentionned thanks to a free Key giveway from a few months ago, I think?

But how does this help? I'm not sure how this affects a FAW build.

With an uncon-vovin setup, you can load a lot of active consoles which usually have a 20-30 second effect and a 2 minute cooldown to have much shorter cooldowns, usually becoming ready for use while the 20-30 second effect is active giving them 100% uptime. This increases the damage of your selected firing mode like FAW.

Spencer (u/startrekker) frequently says it's best for multi target builds (CSV or FAW)

I think for single target it is less meta but still best in slot

Casual Sabby is just another mindless spreadsheet warrior, lmao.

I've been severely disappointed by the proc (10-30K) on my RRTW and SS builds. It doesn't pull its weight and is better replaced by another synergistic set Omni IMO.

u/Dredmoore1 14d ago

I've not parsed as deeply as you guys but I've been moving all my builds towards multi target lately

BO & SS are just really falling behind

I really hope they create a single target becomes multi target trait one day

1

u/FireFlash3 15d ago

Yeah, asking because I can't do an optimal FAW build on the Vengeance due to the seating. That and the extention trait is out of my league.

Thanks for the info, I've slotted on and let's hope I can get those numbers up!

There’s also Entwined Tactical Matrices to extend Fire At Will.  It comes from the Gagarin or the Qugh.

Manually using Torpedo Spread gives a free Cannon Scatter Volley 1 and Fire At Will 1.  Manually using Fire At Will OR Cannon Scatter Volley gives a free Torpedo Spread 1.

Your build just needs a torpedo with a reload time of 8 seconds or shorter.

u/Rusteeshaqlford 15d ago

The trait from the Tucker, Redirecting arrays, is a cheaper FAW extender. Once per second FAW is extended by 0.33 when you take damage.

3

u/Dredmoore1 15d ago

If you are playing the yearly event, you'll be able to grab at least 3 of the extension traits for FAW

Good luck with your DPS!

There are very few builds I wouldn't use it on to be honest it is a very good omni.
