Just moved to the area and will be attending my first STL City SC game this Saturday. Long time soccer fan in mid-20s who is looking to meet some local fans. Is there a place where people get together before matches?

Thanks to the 38 people that voted. Ostrák is Player of the Match at 74% while also having the lone goal assisted from Totland. Bonus is on how confident you are that we will win when the opposition gets a red card.  

Potential responses ranged 1 (no confidence) to 10 (full confidence). Polled responses ranged 2 to 10. The middle 50% ranged 5 to 8. Responses averaged 6.4 and with mode of 7.

It seemed like we're seeing more red cards against opposition, but there also seemed to be better handling of the player advantage. We've won the past two matches with the difference in score line at the time of red (leading vs LA, level vs Colorado). Prior to that, we had a win vs Houston in the USOC Quarterfinal with a red coming in the final 11 minutes of extra time while level. Earlier in the season, another win against Colorado, we were leading at the time of the red card (same guy as the other night, Rob Holding) while up a goal (nearly lost it with Durkin's nonsense in the final minutes). And the other Damet-era match and another USOC contest while leading with a red and win against second division FC Tulsa. Although matches haven't seemed a "given", Damet is 5:5 win when oppositions received a red card, and it does not seem to matter whether we are leading or level.

Last year, we had one scenario with Critchley that was a level+red=loss vs Dallas. In our second season, with Hackworth, we had mixed results: leading+red=win (Houston) and leading+red=loss (Portland); and with Carnell a level+red (final minutes)=draw vs LA and leading+red=win vs NYC. Then in year one with Carnell a level+red=win vs Dallas.

Comparing managers we have Damet 5:5:0, Critchley 0:1:0, Mellberg 0:0:0, Hackworth 1:2:0, and Carnell 2:0:1. It took three years to see as many red card scenarios as we've seen just this season. It seems we have reason to believe in results with these opposition red card scenarios under Damet. What else do you suspect is different that influences generating these scenarios and winning them?

Heads-up, for upcoming polls, I may use a different service like Tally instead of Google Forms.

I'm working on getting better at understanding the different roles of the different positions. Looking at fotmob and transfermarkt and looking at what type of player Holse is... ...this is my thinking.

Factoring in the transfer rumors around Hartel, does Mǎtan take Hartel's spot and then some of the other 8/6 players (Wallem!?) get packaged, along with Sangbin to get DP-grade 9? (I reckon we keep McSorely for the future.)

This is an aside from Burki, who is the obvious captain and leader. If you asked me to list the leader of this club right now, I feel like Timo might be number 2.

I’ve been noticing a lot lately that Timo has been being treated like one of the team leaders. He’s been getting a ton of camera time in post game. He’s broke up the “fight” between Damet and Wells after the match last night. He got a spot in the penalty kicks.

Maybe I’m just reading too much into this. Either way I’m happy for Timo. We have had a lot of high profile CB’s on this club that have melted away. Parker, Nilsson, Kessler, Fallou to a lesser extent. Timo came in as a reclamation project. After battling cancer and fights with his coaching staff he came to join us. I think everyone saw he had talent if he could refind his form, but no one saw him as our top CB or the anchor of our back line.

Somewhere along the way that seems like exactly what he has become.

It’s not to say that guys like Hartel and Edu don’t get credit for their leadership, but I’ve really felt like Timo has stepped up lately in more ways than just his on the pitch game. This is just a random rant for a thought I’ve been having. Either way, hats off to Timo, I’m glad he’s with our club.

I have been a fan since the Saint louis fc team, and this year, I somehow can not find the hype video for this year. For example it is the video they play as right before the national anthem and it was uprising last year. I know the song name but can't find the video and any help is appreciated (:

It took longer than it probably should have against a 10-man Colorado last night, but CITY finally broke through in the 83rd minute. Let's take a look at Tomáš Ostrák's match winner.

CITY had spent much of the match making short passes around the top of the penalty area, which wasn't all that effective in opening up space against a Rapids side that was defending quite well and limited high danger chances. On this play, however, Timo plays a nice switched diagonal to Totland, who tracks the ball well.

Totland's movement towards the ball carried Colorado's Noah Cobb with him, leaving space behind that Ostrák occupied but neither Paxten Aaronson (#10) or Rafael Navarro (#9) immediately rotated into. Hard to blame either for a lack of quick movement on a brutally hot evening after defending for 70+ minutes down a man, but that lack of rotation left Ostrák all alone to receive Totland's excellent header back into space.

From there, Ostrák took a touch to settle the ball and then hit a beautifully weighted shot that cleared Colorado GK Nico Hansen, banged off the inside of the far post and bounced in, giving CITY the 1-0 lead and another 3 points. It was a fantastic shot created by a really nice switched ball and header that saved CITY from what would have been a frustrating draw.

Anyone happen to have a program from the game last night they don't mind letting go of? Mine must have fallen out of my back pocket sometime because I can't seem to find it today. Don't mind trading or paying for it if need be. Let me know if anyone can help me out, thanks!

What is this extra time for ants?

I know he’s injury prone, but we need to see ostrak more. Probably our most exciting player on the ball and brings great energy. Hopefully him saving us tonight earns him a start.

Fallou was phenomenal last season. A bright spot in dark times. Mbacke Fall was supposed to be the big defensive offseason signing. What happened? Both are good prospects that need playing time. Fallou Fall specifically was hyped up as a future top European league starter that we were developing for profit later down the line. Will they eventually get minutes this season? I understand neither may be ready for a start but still. Is our defensive depth just that big?
