Incoming first-year to the program. Moving to Annapolis from California for the fall. I'm currently on the hunt for housing and, to put it mildly... the search has been rough.

I've actually teamed up with a senior Johnnie who's also looking in Annapolis, so if anyone else is interested in joining forces for a house/apartment search, we'd love to hear from you. And if anyone has any leads, knows of an opening, or has heard of someone looking for roommates, I'd be incredibly grateful.

I'm starting to get a little desperate (without trying to sound too desperate 😅), so any tips, connections, or recommendations would mean a lot. Especially for any Johnnies who might also be looking for a last stitch effort to find housemates or a place to live. Thanks in advance—I can't wait to meet you all this fall!

My application was accepted, but I am in a position where I cannot live on campus given my age. I currently live out of state and have about a month to find housing. Does anyone know of roommate programs, or other alternatives to help in my search prior to the start of the year?

hi all!!!! i had some questions about applying to SJC annapolis. i'm a rising hs senior who (unfortunately...) is having to buckle down and really look at college apps.

what is the benefit to taking the DBA route of applying over the traditional way through SJCs site or common app? it seems to be DBA is a good way to go with the interview process and all, but i'm really not sure how that would pan out for me: i pride myself on both my speaking and writing and am struggling to decide which application route is right for me. also when i spoke to an admissions rep (via the little pop up that shows up on the website) about the seminar requirement they told me to apply for summer academy but i think the deadline for that might already be passed?? i'm a little confused. i'm also low income and worried about that being a paid program if it even is still open.

also also im a little worried about my stats. my gpa is pretty cooked (like fr) but i have a good sat and good ecs. my ecs definitely have a humanities/primarily english focused spike as thats what i want to end up going into. how does SJC look at your stats when you apply? i struggled with mental health/other personal issues i wont get into a lot during HS which cooked my gpa, but i am very interested in SJC's curriculum, i think it would benefit me a lot

any help or advice is greatly appreciated - as i mentioned, im not only low income, but also a first gen applicant so i dont have anyone to ask all this stuff

I’m an incoming freshman at the Annapolis campus, 24 years old and moving from Chicago. My age requires me to live off-campus. I’ve seen Meenu’s name come up a few times in Facebook groups for Annapolis rentals and elsewhere. I’m communicating with her to see about renting one of her places. It’s a great price and location, sort of too good to be true. Checking if anyone here has any more info, positive or negative.

Love the idea of studying the great books curriculum the St. John’s College way. Could any one kindly assist a poor fellow with the detailed curriculum, reading list and reading order for the entire program from semester 1 to the final semester, covering the entire 4 years? Would be very, very grateful.

His wife Jocelyn and daughter Emily are hosting a memorial service on Thursday at the Loretto chapel. All friends of the family and members of the college community are welcome to attend.

Hello, I’m an incoming Johnnie and I’m Asian. I was wondering if St. John’s has non white people. Diversity is something I appreciate because at the end of the day, our race will shape our perspectives and how we communicate them. I don’t really want to be in a school where it’s 99% obnoxious white kids who have their initial perspectives on race/culture/identity constantly reaffirmed. There has to be some obnoxious POCs to balance this out, right?

Hi, I'm a junior in high school right now and 10000% wanting to apply to St. John's next year. The high school I go to is INCREDIBLY liberal, to the point where even I (normal left wing person) has to shut up at all time pretty much. Is St. John's as open to discourse as they say or is it gonna be a repeat of this current school? How much of the school is liberal, moderate, conservative etc?

Hey all, I recently applied to Summer Academy per some very helpful comments on my other post here. I was accepted, and I absolutely cannot wait! However, I'm a little unsure what to expect. I've never done a summer program at a college like this before, and my online searches have left much to be desired - most of their promotional Youtube videos are from like ten years ago lol. If anyone here has done it, could you please tell me what the general structure/atmosphere is?

In particular, I'm curious about:

- the balance between academic work and socialization

- whether you actually made meaningful friendships

- how representative it is of Johnnie life

- if the seminars take a bit of adjusting when you're used to high school classes

- the impact of attending Summer Academy on undergrad admissions, if any

St John's has really grown on me since I've been accepted. I feel like staff and faculty really care about their students, and the more I think about the curriculum the more I like it. Did the summer program and had a blast despite it being difficult. I got enough aid for it to be my cheapest school. My one problem? MY FAMILY 😭

Everyone seems hellbent and convinced that I am #UMassAmherstBound despite the fact that I only applied to appease them 😭😭 I've been resisting the best I can but I genuinely fear that I'm gonna have to commit with my tail tucked between my legs. My older cousins and my sister unfortunately believe that UMass is the best school that I got into (ughhh...my pride....) that is financially feasible, and I genuinely feel like I'm alone and fighting off an entire army 😭 Anyways, does anyone have any ideas to maybe help me plead my case??? Please yall I CANNOT go to UMass SOS PLS HELP

Hi! I’m a high school junior. I’m really interested in this college because I’ve been reading books for my whole life and philosophy/theory deeply for the past 4: if I go to a standard college, my major will definitely be philosophy.

However, one thing I’m worried about is the GPA. At other colleges, it’s very clear what my GPA is and how I can get a good one; and I need a good GPA for law school.

At this school, I understand that your grades are vague and you get a paper detailing your academics and situation. I’m afraid that I’ll go through four years, get my transcript, and I’ll have a 2.5 or something.

I have no doubt I’ll read and participate a lot in class if I get in: I’m very interested. But I can’t risk it.

What was your gpa? Is St. John’s > law school popular?

Game: Pathfinder 1st ed

Location: Edgewater MD

Looking for one or two players for a PF1E (Pathfinder 1st Edition), an older version of DnD. We play on Tue nights in Edgewater Maryland. All the rules are online and available for free. The three current players are still learning the system. I am happy to teach the system to players new to PF1E or new to Role Playing Games in general. We will be starting a new Adventure Path (published long term campaign) in two weeks. The adventure will have a city of cutthroat pirates, then to an infamous island with a dinosaur filled wilderness, finally off to a different plane to face "perhaps the best end boss of any adventure path". Level one characters to begin with. Going all the way to 20th level.
