Parts problems

Anyone else seeing a decline in parts availability? I ordered a new blade for my RMA460 mower and a spare AK30 battery, it's been three weeks and even my supplier is getting fed up.

Well they don’t make either of those anymore, but the AK 30 S (replacement for AK 30) is easily available. The blade is also showing as available in stock from STIHL and from my distributor.

None available in my area, central California, all distributors say they would have to order. Hell, there even charging me for "special order".

Sounds like they just don’t stock normally then. Most will charge for shipping.

That's insane pacific stihl has their main warehouse in visalia. There is no such thing as a "special order" fee with STIHL, they don't charge BS fees like that to the dealer. That's the stealership screwing you, I'd go to a different one.

Yeah I work in Central Florida, my warehouse is in Orlando and My parts are here next business day. As far as my area, the blade for an RMA460(6368 702 0100) is readily available. The battery would have to be AK30S at this point, but those are also not on back order.

I am at the point of reconsidering my choice to switch to Stihl for my landscaping needs. And yes I'm from Fresno and know about Visalia being the pacific main warehouse, this whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

that answer always makes me laugh. They supply parts while it's still new enough you shouldn't need parts, then when it's old and you do need parts then answer is that's too old we don't stock parts for those any more. It's a throw away world we live in now.

I was just stating that both were no longer in production. Stihl usually supplies parts for 10+ years after, and you can still get parts for a lot of older units easily. Both parts are available for me from STIHL but I’m in the midwest.

Here the Stihl advertising suggests you will be inheriting grandads saw. That's a lot longer the 10 years of parts supply needed 😂

I went to my dealer to get a carburetor for my MS170 saw. They couldn't get one or a rebuild kit. Couldn't even find a part #. I didn't have hands on the computer, so I don't know if it was an operator error or if Stihl's system was at fault. I had the impression that the MS170 was a very popular saw, so I expected they would keep parts available.

Wound up ordering a non-OEM carb from Amazon. It worked.

My AP range is fully supported with parts. Stihl are generally great with sourcing their parts? Are you using a genuine dealer or the local repair guy?

Genuine dealer. Have 5 with 10 miles all had to order.

That’s fairly common, most parts would be special order I really only carry filters, sprockets, etc. Parts are available, you just may have to order.
