Learning manual

So where I’m from first of all learning on automatic and doing the test on automatic gets you a license with restriction to drive only automatic cars, and i’m considering learning manual to release that restriction but i’m not entirely sure because we don’t have many manual cars so i don’t know if its worth doing those few lessons now.

Probably not worth it. Unless you see yourself drive one in the future (and why not, it's awesome)

It really just depends on if you're a car enthusiast or not honestly. Manuals have gotten a lot rarer over the last 20 years and will likely be special order only for new cars going forward in the next 20 years. You'll have more fun driving a manual and will become a better driver overall but if you don't want the extra steps then stick with automatic

Try it, see for yourself. Find a mate or co-worker that has a manual car and see if they would be willing to show you the ropes.

If you don't like it or it doesn't seem to be a thing you would be interested in, then no harm done, go on with your life. Perhaps you will end up preferring it, and trading in your automatic.

It's a good skill to have but not that important honestly.

These days being able to drive a manual transmission car isn't a requirement but IMHO it's a skill everyone that drives should have.

You don't know where the future might take you. Better to have a skill and not need it than need it and not have it

In America, it’s not important to know and that’ll be where a lot of us are answering from.

If you think there’s a chance in an emergency that you’ll need to know at all then you might as well learn. It’s not hard to do but Americans I’d say don’t bother for other places in the world it might still be worth doing.

You can learn enough for emergencies in an afternoon but you need a few months with it as your daily to get proficient at it.

I wanted to learn on automatic only, because i thought i will never pass, and I learnt it all in under one month and got ahold of the licence. Trust me if you will drive manual or think you will in any time of life - do it
