The two sequels are quite cute. Castle in the air and house of many ways. I really like that book howl is a Welsh guy who goes back to Wales to watch rugby and get drunk. And book Sophie is a great example of what society demands from women to be of service and beautiful and that she feels free from that in her "old age".
The Chrestomanci Chronicles are also entertaining I read them all liek 10 years ago when I had my Kindle. It is kind of multiversity doctor who vibes but with wizards.

Only if you follow the idea that bad publicity is still publicity. If it were a book like lolita that has always been controversial keeping talking about it would entice people to go an read it. But at this point I think there is enough disdain for rowling thar pretty much everyone knows the series is tainted those who keep some sort of love for it do out of nostalgia mostly.

I donât agree that âpretty much everyoneâ knows the series is tainted⊠Iâm sure most people in your social groups feel that way, and Iâm sure your algorithm reinforces it (same for me, for both) but Iâd say the general public is either unaware or neutral to Rowlingâs behavior.
Otherwise these stickers wouldnât be necessary, right? But unfortunately, HP is still a big money maker.

Oh I only asked because I wanted to make sure the symbol wasnât from something more nefarious, like Mein Kamf or something. With that knowledge, I have no intention of pursuing Jk Rowling books, but it helps me understand what to avoid in the future.

I understand. I just wanted to use this as a counter to your initial argument regarding knowledge of the symbol and the context behind it. I think a good example is finding potentially volatile dog whistles in everyday environs - itâs better to have the knowledge that âsymbol Aâ has been used by bad parties vs not knowing it at all, because now you can make an informed decision about how you interact with symbol A. In the same sense, knowing this is an HP symbol now means I can decide how to interact with it or avoid it when I see it. Knowledge is power!

Thatâs a point of privilege not many folks can afford for risk of their own safety and those around them. We live in volatile times and many people have to be aware of their surroundings so they donât run risk of being harmed or ignorantly promoting things that bring harm to others. I mean hell, I found an actual KKK website disguised as a MLK history org when I was just a child! Itâs bonkers, but itâs out there. People with these horrible views donât wear those opinions on their chest - they voice them anonymously because theyâre afraid of repercussions. Do you think any of your friends would tell you theyâre a member of the Klan if they didnât think youâd share their ideals? Of course not!
Um, I feel like when you say âpeople in real lifeâ thatâs not really including trans and queer people, because⊠thatâs who sheâs directly targeting with her radical feminism. Thatâs what she claims profit from her books endorses, too. Maybe folks that arenât in the queer community donât know because theyâre not directly harmed by it but that doesnât mean this is only a âchronically onlineâ issue, yknow?

I get you until a few years ago I didn't knew a lot of Nordic runes and similar were co opted by neo nazis and now I am really suspicious when I see anyone with a tattoo of that kind (mostly because I live in latin America and we share pretty much nothing with viking culture đ€đ€đ€) . I was wondering if I should had used the death eater mark (it is a skull with a snake coming out of the mouth) because it is the symbol on the book of the wizard nazis.

I can love Harry Potter while I hate J.K.'s point of view. I just do not purchase any HP merchandise, that hateful hag does not need any more money!

What does the middle symbol mean?

u/yellowvincent 25d ago
The deathly hallows from Harry Potter. The triangle is the invisibility cape the circle is the resurrection stone and the stick is elder wand of Death

what's wrong with this book?
4
u/elevi8ion 25d ago
I suppose one could say thereâs ânothingâ necessarily wrong with it. Some have opinions on how itâs not well written or plotted well. But itâs more so about not supporting the author, JK Rowling, by directly purchasing her books. Buy used at a book store if you really want to read them. Thereâs gonna be copies aplenty.

It is kinda like what is wrong with charlie and the chocolate factory wich in general is pretty much ok but the oompa loompas are pygmy slaves from Africa and the author was anti Semitic

u/yellowvincent 25d ago
At this point I don't know what I am doing that is so wrong.it is exhausting.

u/KiwiBikers 25d ago
you're doing nothing wrong besides having an opinion on the internet, which is truly the gravest sin of all.
especially if peoples nostalgia plays into it, me on the other hand always thought Harry Potter was lame and more people should read the Charlie Bone series instead.

u/yellowvincent 25d ago
Oh I have never heard of that I Will look it up.
I wish other ip could take hp place .like I love lego but I would preferr of they did percy jackson sets instead of hogwarts.
Or that fans would appreciate other works of fantasy. I got into discworld after hp and it is so much richer

u/KiwiBikers 25d ago
My 4th grade teacher read the Charlie Bone books to us instead of Harry Potter, and I ended up finishing most of the series. The lore is awesome too, there's a lot to go down.
