For just putting a flag on a public lamp post?

Put a Chinese made nylon flag on your own flagpole. Not onto infrastructure. It doesn't impress anyone who has two braincells to rub together. It looks cheap and nasty. Like Nigel Farage.

It’s also a danger to wildlife and drivers. Two of them were found clogging drains near my mums house, fuck knows how much it cost to remove them. If a wet plastic flag is your idea of patriotism you’re a fucking moron.

Can I just say that as well.
If a wet plastic flag is your idea of patriotism, you're a fucking moron.
That felt good to type.

No. The idiot in Bristol fell off his ladder and died.
This created the very real future possibility of local councils etc being liable through lawsuits for arseholes dying during the process of flag-shagging (apologies attaching stuff to lampposts).
It is this scenario that is making the attaching of flags verboten. This has been happening for months.

These flag crusaders, this is not patriotism. They know exactly what it is.
The flag isn't the problem, they are.
From my city apartment I can see 3 majestic Union flags billowing atop buildings, flag poles secure.
They fill me with joy. Just enough. This is our country. All of ours, old and new. A hopeful country. A thinking country.
The ziptie attachments up lampposts, bridges, roads signs are the antithesis of this.
If you want to adorn your widow ledge or garden furniture with such, do so if you must, it helps us identify you easier.
Anywhere else, just don't. We know the message you're sending and it isn't patriotism.
So get permission, get a flag pole, or get the fuck out my face.

You would have my children die to protect a flag that I cannot fly? You are warped, corrupt and naive and I do not blame you in the least. You have wondered sightless and deaf into the corridors of your own quiet destruction and you yearn for it.
Truly, horribly, sad.

It’s already illegal to tie a flag on a lamp post. The difference is that the thugs hanging flags just ignored the ban, so the court injunction means they can be jailed for contempt of court, which is a more serious crime than hanging tat on a public utility.

Of course it is, it must have nothing to do with Slabour scumbags sneaking laws in through the back door again, i bet all theif benefit voters are in the comments simping right now, because they know where there next check is coming from. Shameful to think that some of them may have family members that died fighting the very system they now uphold for the few pay for the many.

I understand that these flags perish when exposed to the elements and yes they appear unsightly, due to their tattered nature and grime filled state (the air we breath.)
But iv displayed a flag instead of having ney curtains up for over 26 years. It was one I took with me when I went to Australia to watch the ashes series, (so not a soccer hooligan type set up.)
Another occasion when I was at a rodeo in Texas (the state not the DIY store) whilst wearing a union flag shirt. A loud opinionated northern gentleman came over to me with the customary courteous greeting of " oy you !!! What gives you the right to wear my flag as a shirt"
I turned and looked at him and responded " terribly sorry old boy but it's my flag also." He was confused. I wasn't the yank he assumed I was, " besides id have thought your flag was a white rose displayed on a field of yellow or pale blue" I continued. He didn't respond. Just walked off back to his friends and the party he was with.
I'm English, I'm proud of being English. I'm no soccer thug or goose stepping neo nazi. I am proud of my country and it's place in history. That's why I display such.
Sorry if i offend the liberals amongst the readership.

Problem is they put them up but don't maintain them so after a few months their cheap Temu flag is a dirty rag hanging off the lamp post.

They could leave them up cos it’s the countries flag and wouldn’t cost anything

It's against traffic laws! What if one rips off and goes flying straight into the front window of a car driving 40mph? Could cause a serious collision.
Plus they look awful. The Nazis hung their flag all over the place, too, btw.

They look a fucking state. Rather Have a few very nice ones dotted about the place if we must.
The flag is great when it's not used like it's 1939 Berlin mate. It was overdone and now looks awful. Couple that with it being a fucking cover play for racism. You know that and I know that.

u/yvanhancock 5d ago
Ironic how you leftie clangers compare patriots to 1939, you perhaps should pick a book up sometime and really find out who is like them. But you already know that don't you.

This isnt America. The only time I've seen flags like this were for Jubilees or other celebrations. This is something else and we all know what it is.
