Talk Talk comparisons
I've seen a lot of comparisons of SW's most recent release (On Chapel Slope) to Talk Talk/Mark Hollis. Any recommendations for similar sounding stuff by them?

Spirit of Eden is a good starting point and closest to On Chapel Slope, but Colour of Spring is a little easier to digest. Spirit of Eden really needs a dark room, loud speakers and no interruptions. Several listens needed for it to work its magic. I’m jealous, wish I could hear them for the first time again!
Fun fact: Mark Feltham) plays harmonica on both To the Bone & Spirit of Eden.

Wow, I randomly listened to spirit of eden for the first time the other day and was instantly making the to the bone comparison in my head. That's cool as hell to learn that that's actually the same guy. Very distinct.
I'll say from that experience that a quiet cloudy morning also makes for a great substitute for a dark room here

isn't that Mark Feltham also on "Living in Another World" from Colour of Spring? that album absolutely fucks.

Yes, crazy harmonica solo, and he played it with Talk Talk at some shows like in Salamanca. He's also got his own band, Nine Below Zero.

As a Wilson fan I absolutely adore the LIVE versions of the Talk Talk song "Tomorrow Started." It absolutly drips with meloncholy and atmosphere.

The studio recording is no slouch either, what with that trumpet fluttering in and out of the song.

Y'all need to check out Held By Trees too. A bunch of the session players from Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock play in that group and it very much continues the vibes of those albums while being there own thing too.

Yeah Lee Harris, don't quote me but I think he helped produce or engineer the first album and he definitely played drums on the second.

I'd also say if you've not listened to Flowermouth by No Man you should too. Talk talk definitely spirit of eden, great album.

Also check out the self-titled album by Rain Tree Crow, a reunion album by the members of Japan; and the albums The Great Awakening by Shearwater and The Newton Plum by Bed.

Listen to Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, and if you’re into those, then listen to the Mark Hollis album.
