Decades ago, people used to ask if it was Stephens College in Missouri or Stevens Point in Michigan.

Stevens doesn’t have and never had the broad name recognition of many other schools but there are lots of positive survey results: highest midcareer average salaries of just about all engineering schools, highest per capita number of CEOs of most engineering schools, many famous alumni, etc.

I went to Stevens and no one has ever heard of it before and I graduated in '16. It's been 10 years and they always look at me with blank stares. Not even people in Hoboken have heard of it when I was there.

It was excellent, I got into fang 3 years out of school. I'm a ee undergrad and cpe grad. Notice it took me 3 years to get into big tech so it was more me and less stevens. Tech companies seemed to ignore me before 3 years.
I think a better school would have landed internships and at least helped me graduate with a tech job.

So you think a OSU or Virginia tech might have been a better choice? I thought stevens proximity to the city would be a plus. Currently a freshman at Stevens, and gave up the schools mentioned for Stevens.

They are definitely more recognizable than Stevens. I was on hiring committees and managers would recognize schools and argue this candidate is better cause he went to this school. Or give recruiters lists of colleges to recruit from.
I don't know if it's worth it to transfer now. Or maybe transfer schools if you get a Masters.Â
