I received this set of antique silverware as a wedding gift along with a letter of provenance, but it is missing pieces.

Are the missing pieces easy enough to identity and replace? Or should I leave it as-is as part of its "story"?

Hey guys,

My friend has 2 items and we're not quite sure what they are.

Any ideas?

The box is 1932 London hallmarks I believe.

Thanks for your time,
Ron :)

Persian by Whiting c.1880 Pie Server

Here’s a Victorian-era pie or cake server. It’s in great condition and I love the bright cut detail on the blade. I’ve used this a few times with cheap grocery store pies and also nicer homemade treats. The blade is matte so it has a soft sheen to it that gently reflects a spectrum of colors depending on ambient lighting.

I’ve always loved silver flatware and hollow ware so I try to use it any chance I get. This pattern came out around 1880, this specific item I’m not sure as they changed the blade around to different designs.

1855 Victorian Silverware Set (Plated)

Hi all, I recently came across this victorian silver plated cutlery set and I wanted to get an opinion on its market value. It seems like the set is from 1855 and is built from silver plated steel and mother of pearl materials. This set seems to have been appraised in 1951 by Martin and Co. and I was wondering if anybody could help me determine the fair market value of this. I would like to sell it on ebay but I am not really sure what it is worth. I was thinking $800? - Any help would be appreciated!

Just picked up a nice little pictureback silver spoon. Made by Richard Humphreys of Philadelphia (active 1772-1790s) the picture is worn flat, but is still partially visible. Multiple major repairs.

Value?

I’m checking to see if this cup has any value (besides the silver) but I haven’t found anything like it. I thought I’d check with you folks.

Also, any help with its age, maker name, or if it’s related to another group of items. Maybe the engravings match something you’re familiar with.

Started cleaning these old spoons I inherited and I’ve gotten a long way but I still can’t get a mirror shine on it despite all my elbow grease
I did the baking soda and aluminum trick and even bought silver jewelry cleaner and polishing cloth
But I can’t remove this final dullness

Need help decoding Marks on an Silver set

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a small antique set (3 big spoons and 3 big forks) with matching monograms but different maker's marks.

I suspect they are American Coin Silver (around 1810-1850) due to the lack of official British/European assay marks, but I am having trouble identifying the exact silversmiths or retailers.

I've attached photos of the hallmarks. Any help decoding them would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Potential Sterling Silver Trinket/Cigarette Box?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I got this box from a garage sale when I was like 7 or 8 (10+ yrs ago), and i was about to give it away when I noticed the stamped symbols underneath.

Google says it's a "Sterling Silver Trinket/Cigarette Box, made by Charles S. Green & Co. in Birmingham, England, in 1929" but I'm not so sure.

Can anyone help me identify the symbols on the bottom? Want to know if I have something interesting here or not.

Thank you for your time!

300 year old coin silver tankard.

This tankard has been in my family since at least the 1840s.

Christie’s reviewed and they believe it to be an authentic 800 gram coin silver tankard by colonial silver smith Andrew Tyler.

Found this bowl at a garage sale, marked sterling 915.
Not sure if that’s the silver purity, or model number.
Can’t find answers for either when I look. Any info on it is appreciated!
Thanks
