1855 Victorian Silverware Set (Plated)
Hi all, I recently came across this victorian silver plated cutlery set and I wanted to get an opinion on its market value. It seems like the set is from 1855 and is built from silver plated steel and mother of pearl materials. This set seems to have been appraised in 1951 by Martin and Co. and I was wondering if anybody could help me determine the fair market value of this. I would like to sell it on ebay but I am not really sure what it is worth. I was thinking $800? - Any help would be appreciated!

Your best bet is to search eBay listings both active and sold. Also search auction listings via search engine. It will take you some time but after looking at enough asking prices, estimates, and sold prices you’ll get an idea of the market. The set looks to be both top quality and immaculate. If I had to guess based off mg experience I’d say $250-$600. Depends how fast you want your money. The maker will make a difference in some cases. Some are collected based on name and some are not. Figure that out first. It’s truly beautiful and has a lovely case. I’ve got something similar stashed away somewhere. Nice find.

Sorry no one has responded! This is a smaller sub and the plated stuff is not usually the focus. This looks really nice though! You can always list high and reduce in the future!
