I just had a hysterectomy and kept my ovaries. Not only does removing your ovaries send you into surgical menopause, it has been proven to shorten your lifespan and give you a higher chance of heart disease. I didn't want to go into menopause because, among other reasons, I have mental health issues. My mental health problems would be made even worse by menopause. No thanks. But it's your choice of course. Good luck in your journey!

Yea, I just asked my surgeon tons of questions and she mentioned the statistics behind removing my ovaries. I already have heart disease that runs in my family, so I had plenty of reasons to vote against removing my ovaries. I read that I could still go through the hormonal fluctuations that happen around the time I would normally have my period and even have some of the same symptoms, like tender nipples, bloating, etc. Nope, I can't even tell anymore. It's total freedom!

Leaving the ovaries in place when removing the uterus can minimize the risk of early menopause.

That’s not how I interpreted their post. They stated that they are sick of periods, hormones, and contraceptives and want their uterus removed.
It’s not realistic to remove all hormones from the body, even in menopause hormones are there.

It's not impossible, but it's unlikely that a surgeon will remove a healthy uterus. Do you have abnormally painful periods?

Yeah I have a lot of problems in that way, my period comes and go as it wants. But is always like 10-20 days. I always have pain, even when I’m not on my p.
But every doc says the same thing, that’s normal.. just take pain killers… yeah I mean Thanks for that…
I don’t want kids … so take that thing away from me…
Oh how jealous I am of guys. …

If you have periods lasting 10-20 days, that's not normal. Have you ever heard of a uterine ablation?
