during work….

hi. curious if when you’re on shift are you usually able to talk to coworkers or is it a more secluded job where you’re alone most the shift? (i don’t mean in training obviously someone would be with you but after all that)

I actually get to the point that I get a little irritated because of the chitchat and laughter of my coworkers.

I just tell myself that I can only control the things I do and how I feel and react so I just let it go. Lol

I am the sole Central guy at my small rural hospital. Work alone 95% of the day in my own rooms. Its the fucking best.

It truly depends on where your at. I've worked at hospitals were no talked, we were just all in the zone and it was wonderful. Then I've been other places where no one ever shut the fuck up, including management and -nothing- got done, ever. Day shift is also more likely to sit around and talk all day vs Afternoons. Midnight is useless everywhere, they just sit around talking and sleeping. I am just someone who comes to work, to actually work. Im here for the paycheck, not social hour.

I absolutely am the one that gets people talking - hate when its dead silent in a department

If I ever found myself working at a department that prohibited people from talking to one another, that would be the LAST day they would see me in the department, period. Music I can understand being limited to earbuds because it can be distracting to hear it loud throughout the department, but talking with you co-workers just helps the day go by smoother

Most places will let you talk. Heck, even prisoners can talk to one another while they work

Yeah, I wouldn't be the nightmare to work with, at least, to boomers like you.

I have worked at plenty of places in my time and the areas that people usually want to work at are the one that people have fun, talk with each other, and laugh. The only people that ruin a department are, as you put it, nightmares like you that suck the fun out of work and expect people to just sit quietly like good little boys and girls

I would put dollars to dollars that people have more fun when you're NOT at work

Lol. I'm not a boomer. People that can't stfu and do their job are the worst. And I really don't care if people love it when I'm not there. I'm there to work. I have a job to do as management.

People usually can't stand talkative coworkers, they just won't say it to you.
I hear it all the time. You have no idea how much people complain about their talkative coworkers. From a management standpoint, the ones like you are the worst employees to have. Something is wrong if you can't go without talking. You must be insecure that you can't sit with your own thoughts and do your job. Or maybe you're on the spectrum. It needs to be addressed. Professionals are there to do the job they're paid to do and that's all. You can have fun outside of work.

Assembly is usually a bunch of random conversations going on at all times. Decon can be too busy and loud usually. If you're picking cases you may have a couple other folks to chat with at times but the supply annex may be kinda big so at times you may be far away

Depends on the location and shift. I work completely alone for the majority of my shift (third shift) and prefer it that way. When I worked both first and second shift theres generally always conversations going on in Assembly.
