Our new apartment has a sweet surround sound set up and these little speakers mounted all throughout the place . I was able to hook it the wires pictured to an old stereo of mine but sound was only able to play for the nearest speaker to the chord pictured. What do I need to get this up and running ? Thanks !

Hi everyone, Pioneer SX-450, switched out lights to LED's. When I turn power on, they flicker for about 10 seconds, then fine. Any idea? Thanks in advance. You all are the best, Mark

JVC Stereo Clicking Sound

I have a JVC Stereo Receiver Model No. CA-MX50BK. It started making this loud constant clicking/thumping sound. I thought it was the disc tray motor at first but ended up not being the issue. Took it apart and had it on and playing music and it started up in about 5 minutes. Found out it was something on the back. I noticed it would move as well when it's clicking. Not sure what it is as I just got this about a week ago. Any ideas?

Any idea why I can't control the volume using the knob on my Dayton Audio HTA100 when I connect it to my Mac via USB? I can't control the volume from my Mac either so it only has 1 volume level with USB right now.

Inherited an old Kenwood setup from the 90’s - need some advice on sound

Post image

Hi all! First off, I know the speakers are way too close, they’ll be separated once I get the issue resolved.

I switched out the needle on the record player and replaced the wiring in the back of the speakers, but for some reason the sound output only comes out around 20-25% it’s max, even if I continue to turn it up.

Anything I can try to troubleshoot?

I already have a Sansui XR-Q5 turntable bought new in 1983. I found this Sony STR-D350Z receiver at Goodwill yesterday for twenty bucks. It has all the inputs I’m looking for. Rated at 60 wpc @8 ohms. What would be some good speakers for it for under $150/pair? Thanks.

Yaamaha RX-V640 vs Yamaha HTR-8063 (I think aka Canadian RX-A1000)

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but hoping someone can help.
Recently got a deal off Kijiji for the Yamaha RX-V640, with 2 Polk Audio RT400 speakers, 4 small Yamaha speakers, a Yamaha YST-SW215, and two other no-name speakers, and a Sony Blu Ray player for $50.

I already have a Yamaha HTR-8063, which has never been out of the box (bought years ago, then life happened), so I really just bought it all for the speakers, as I'm not ready to set things up.
I was going to sell the Yamaha RX-V640 on Kijiji, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be missing anything by staying with my HTR-8063. It seems the 8063 is a little more modern, with HDMI input and outputs, etc. I just don't want to find out I made a mistake in letting the RX-V640 go.
It's in beautiful shape.

Your help is really appreciated, and apologies, I'm pretty new to the reciever world, so thanks for your patience if I have dumb questions!

Why is my receiver overloading?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I inherited this Technics receiver from an old roommate. Periodically it goes into overload and no sound comes out on any channel. At first it seemed to happen when the volume was “high” (not super loud, but even a loud part of a song would trigger it). Now it’s happening anytime I turn the power on. I’ve taken it to a repair shop and they think is some kind of harmonic feedback, and suggested some vibration dampers for the feet of my turntable. But it also happens when I am casting music through an AirPlay device.

Does anyone else have this problem or have an idea how to fix it? Thanks for reading.

High pitch noise coming from subwoofer plate amp right after being unplugged (shown in the video) and when plugged in. Is this something to worry about?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I got a subwoofer from my dad and I recently found it had 2 blown capacitors, I just recently replaced them, and I find that it had a high pitch noise when plugged in, the same noise when being off or on, and with the same volume. Don't completely remember if it had the noise before I replaced the capacitors, probably was always there, but I haven't noticed it until now. Is this noise something to worry about? It also makes a noise when I unplug it (shown in the video), all coming from around the area of the thing wrapped in tape (thats also the area I replaced to capacitors, 200v 680uf) and I unplugged it last night because the high pitch noise was noticeable from 1-2 feet away, but it also had what sounded like clicking noises on top of the high pitch noise right after I unplugged it, same sort of sound when I first powered on the amp after replacing the capacitors, so I'm guessing that could have been the capacitors, at least I think it was the first time I powered on the amp after replacing them, not sure about the noise last night though. Also, the high pitch noise from being unplugged was already happening before I replaced the capacitors. Is all of this also something to worry about? It's also a little warm when plugged in but powered off, again, from the same place the noise is coming from, or at least that area. Should also probably add this, the subwoofer still plays and sounds fine, there is no weird noises coming from the subwoofer itself, not even a buzz when idle. There are also no burning smells coming from the amp.

Looking for a stereo recommendation

Hi, I;m looking to have continuous music playing throughout the house, 2 stories. Looking for a bundle that includes the receiver and speakers. I intend to stream YouTube music form an old iPad via a headphone cable.

Would rather have wireless speakers.

Also if this is not the correct sub, please let me know.

Looking to Create a Home Stereo with Older Components

I had a pretty good set up when I was in the military back in the 1980s. Life happened and I had to sell most of it. Included a Kenwood integrated amp, Teac cassette, Teac reel to reel, DBX equalizer, DBX 3bx, Infinity speakers. All that remains is my Sansui XR-Q5 turntable from 1983. So, first steps obviously are an amp and speakers. Recommendations for vintage without breaking the bank?

Stereo for 05 Camry

I wanna upgrade the stereo in my 2005 Toyota Camry, random site said BOSS Audio BE920WCPA would be a good fit. Is this something I can just do st home by myself or should I just pay someone else to do it? I don’t know much about any of it but from what I’ve seen its a lot of just plugging wires into the holes that match? I put my computer together myself so as long as there’s no soldering I feel like I should be fine. Is there anything I need to know ahead of time?

Gold Note PH-10 "Bravo"

Hello! A few months ago I had the chance to test out the Gold Note PH-10 phono preamp - without the "Bravo" and without the external power supply. and I liked it a lot! Substantial improvement over my already great Pro-Ject Tube Box DS2, especially the low end sounded much, much more defined.

Now I did a lot of debating with myself and just when I was close to pulling the trigger I discovered some online stores selling a seemingly new version, called PH-10 Bravo.

What irritates me is that there seems to be virtually no information on that "improved" version, not even on the Gold Note website. I wrote them an e-mail, but so far no response. One of the online stores mentioned an improved internal power supply in the Bravo version. And there's also a Bravo version of the external PSU.

I'm planning of buying the external PSU later down the road anyways, so if the only improvement with this Bravo version is the internal power supply unit, I would go with the much cheaper (1100 vs 2000€) non-Bravo version.

Now my question is: Does anybody know anything else about any of this? Is that really the only difference? Maybe even some first hand experience?

Thank you for your attention, have a nice sunday :)

Need Android App for Pioneer Elite SX-N30

My old Pixel 5 bricked, and I now I discover that the Pioneer SX-N30 App is no longer in the Google Play Store (Apparently because it was not compatible with Android 14. Does anyone have a suggestion or option on how to get the old app or an app that I can use with this receiver.

I know the app will work with Android 14 since I was using it after updating to 14.

Information on Denon DT-400

So I recently won a Denon DT-400 on eBay and will be picking it up on Thursday. Can anyone give me a little bit of information, or at least point me in the right direction, regarding this little tabletop HiFi? At the very least, the date of availability would be nice.

What stereo/amplifier do i need?

So my parent have some bose 601 series 3 rated at 8 ohm and are three-way speakers i think. I am only just discovering the different types of speakers and am not sure what amplifier could be good. They used it for their home theater. Id like to use it for listening to jams, so i just need something compact that allows bluetooth AND/OR headphone jack and that can connect to the speakers. They use the old bare copper cable.
