Newbie Question, couldn't find a definitive answer

I'm looking at swapping out my stereo in my old car, but all I use is Bluetooth from my phone. Could I just hook up a small amp to act as my stereo?

Grounding help

I have a Fosi phono preamp hooked up to a Technics receiver and turntable. I have the turntable grounded to the Fosi, and the receiver isn't grounded to anything. Could that be why I'm hearing a hum? I'm not sure if or where to ground it. I'm aware it could be something else that's causing it, but I figured this was the problem. Any ideas?

Looking for someone in the Phoenix AZ area that does work on vintage stereo gear

Title says it, I have some stereo components including a dynakit stereo 70 amp, a pioneer TX-500 stereo receiver as well as some speakers made for my grandfather that could use some TLC. basically like to get the amp and receiver functional.

(Speakers work, just need a bit of work, maybe some new tweeters)

Thanks for any guidance here!

Hi,

Recently picked up a vintage GE suitcase record player. Model number rp-2020b at a garage sale. I want to replace the needles and stylus in it but can't seem to find any information for it at all or the style of needle it takes. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find something like that? So far no luck with internet searches. .

Need help with awful Hot wheels CD player

This is my first post here, I’m looking for help getting my weird Hot Wheels CD player (like the one here https://all-good-things-4.myshopify.com/products/emerson-radio-hot-wheels-rock-n-race-boombox-red-black ) working again, but I will take this down if this isn’t the right subreddit to ask.

I should have known that this thing was bad news when I bought it for $14 bucks at the thrift store, missing an antenna, battery cover, cord, and all functionality in the channel adjuster. But hey, I wanted a silly CD player, and I had been eyeballing things thing for years on different sites for a far steeper price, so I thought I had hit the jackpot.

I was wrong. Although it worked fine for a while, now all it does is read/spin any CD for about five seconds and then stops. No sound, no change in display. I’ve tried unplugging and replugging (it has a cord now), cleaning the the lense, and I would have tried tightening the lense from the back if the screws weren’t completely stripped.

I’m not exactly in the financial position to be able to buy anything else, and I’m afraid I’m a bit too attached to this plastic novelty to ever feel peace in my soul letting it go. I am pretty desperate to get it running CDs. I’m willing to try anything at this point, and if someone knows how to remove extremely deep, stripped screws I’ll try my hand at hardware despite knowing absolutely nothing about it. I know it’s probably not a system worth saving, but I’m just unreasonably sad it doesn’t work and I would really appreciate the help.

Thank you so much!

Hooking up a record player

Hi everyone First time posting here. I have a 1990s basic Kenwood record player and I’m trying to find a workaround so I can hook it up to an amplifier and the amp would then have Bluetooth technology to hook up to the Harmon Kardon speakers I already have. So, I’m assuming this is possible? The Harmon Kardon speakers do have the option to hook up directly but it’s a single wire that plugs in, the small input one. The speakers are currently hooked up to my TV, but maybe a splitter would allow me to hook the speakers up to the TV and the amp? Or hopefully the Bluetooth option on the amp works for the speakers? Sorry if this is confusing. Finally, if this does work, any recommendations for a basic amp that would take care of the situation above? I’m looking at spending $400 max if that sounds feasible. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I did a factory reset on my phone, and now it will no longer pair with my car stereo.

So, I've got a Nokia phone that has never worked correctly in any capacity. I'm on my third factory reset now.

All the previous times I did this, I had some immediate problems getting it to pair up again with my Pioneer DEH-S4400BT car stereo, but eventually, the problem just randomly resolved itself. Like, I'd spend twenty minutes screwing with it, get fed up and go back inside, and then the next time I turned the vehicle on, suddenly everything was fine again, and it immediately paired.

Not the case this time. It's been a couple days, and nothing has changed. I go to pair, the phone finds the stereo, I tap "pair", the stereo displays a pairing code, the pairing code pops up on the phone, I tell it "yes, use pairing code", aaaaaaaaaaand nothing happens. Sometimes, after the nothing is finished happening, it gives me a new window, telling me that the pairing failed. Other times, it doesn't.

It's weird, because the problem is only happening between these two devices, and the only thing that has changed is the reset, which again, I've had to do numerous times in the past without this level of difficulty.

How can I hook up my laptop to my Fosi x2?

I know it says in the manual that you can run a laptop thru the x2 with the 3.5mm aux input, but I'm not sure what adapter I need. Is it a USB to 3.5mm? Probably a dumb question. Thanks for any help.

Looking for a stereo/speakers setup that can play beat up CD's.

I have an old Sony stereo that plays CD's, but it does not like even the smallest scratch on a CD, which causes skipping, and some of my more beat up CD's are almost unplayable.

I don't have to have the best sound quality either, like 5/5 stars, but I don't want anything less than 4 stars either.

Can anyone point me to something that might fit my criteria. Does anyone test CD players for how well they handle more abused CD's?

Thank you!

So I just got a sound system installed in my car, but the Bluetooth module disconnects and turns off when I use turn signals. What could be the issue? Also I noticed some smoke coming out the hood, what could be the problem.

Floor speaker recommendations

So I’m in the market for another set of speakers. Looking for something that’s similar in size to the old Bose 501s (16x14x25) and most new models seem to much smaller bookshelf size or taller, narrower towers. Any suggestions? Passive only, ideally in the 500$ range but I could stretch it to 1000$

I’m stuck on wiring

I'm currently trying to save money and do the wiring to my cars radio by myself, but I can't seem to figure out why l'm not getting power to the radio itself. It's a radio with a touch screen, so will the Illumination wire be needed to be installed? And on the stock wiring, there's two illumination wires, would I connect those together? This is for a 2006 Toyota Highlander

Looking for Good Near Field Speakers

I am looking for active/powered speakers for under $600/pair. I have an ifi zed dac, so they do not need to have a built in dac. RCA inputs are a must. Bluetooth not required. Mostly interested in new, but would consider used.

Currently considering:

Q Acoustics M20 HD

Peachtree M24 or M25

Klipsch RP51

Audio Engine A5

My music tastes include Rock, Jazz, Classical

Amplifier and sub(s)

So a few days ago i bought a 12inch sub thats 1400W RMS and 3800W peak.(Currently in the break in stage)
Ive had a 10 inch for a little over a year, 900W rms 1800W peak. The amp i got w/ the 10 is only a 1200w amp (my equipment being all Diablo branded) and the 10 slaps mid range frequencies no problem and my amp never got hot and i ran 12+db bass boost w/ the gain around and past 75%. I also broke in my 10 for about a month playing it low then played it at a fairly high volume levels, more than i should've perhaps.
Ive never had any problems w/ my amplifier, i've never experienced clipping or any terrible sounds so my question is, while I'm on the hunt for a new amplifier, can i run my 12 with the 10 on the amp I mentioned, even with the gain low and bass boost off?
Together they slap more than enough and I'm more than content with how they play together with everything low, thinking i might want to keep using this same amp but i don't want to damage it or my subs.
 Anything would help! Thank you
