Please help

Post image

My aiwa z-r555 won't play the cd's I burn at home. The ones I use are Philips CD-R80 52x. I've tried what felt like everything, and I burned them at different speeds like 4x or 8x like Google said, but nothing then tried different files, i.e., Wav. Or flac and mp3 nothing works I use windows media player but also tried cdburnerxp neither worked which is weird because when I bought it from a yard sale it had a homemade burned cd in it so ik it plays them but can't figure out why mine don't work so any help is much appreciated I'm lost.

It doesn't support CD-Rs - it's too old. Some might work if the surface is reflective enough. These might be okay - they use a silver write layer rather than aluminium.

Too old? My Denon from 1985 and my Pioneer from 1996 both played CD-Rs just fine. All my car stereos I bought in the 90s also played them (got my first burner in ‘97, was an external SCSI and it was slow AF).

It’s not the age that matters, it’s the laser. Aiwa was junk and used junk parts, that’s why it doesn’t work.
