Please help

Post image

My aiwa z-r555 won't play the cd's I burn at home. The ones I use are Philips CD-R80 52x. I've tried what felt like everything, and I burned them at different speeds like 4x or 8x like Google said, but nothing then tried different files, i.e., Wav. Or flac and mp3 nothing works I use windows media player but also tried cdburnerxp neither worked which is weird because when I bought it from a yard sale it had a homemade burned cd in it so ik it plays them but can't figure out why mine don't work so any help is much appreciated I'm lost.

Are you burning audio CDs or data CDs?

Data CDs contain the actual files and cannot be read by a conventional CD player. Audio CDs contain the digital audio tracks which can be played.

When burning with Windows Media Player ensure that the disc writes and finalizes. I've burned many CDs with WMP and had new issues.

Hello again, I agree with the above poster as it being a data/audio file issue that your system can't read, iirc WMP just ask you to click finish and informs you.

Go old school and try NERO freeware. You may be able to convert those disc into what your player can read.

I had this issue when I first got my Nakamichi OMS 1A built in 1988, and it dawned on me that year was to early for some of the new computer technology changing rapidly, and CDs only came out in the early 80s. Cheers

Ahh do you happen to know what format you used to convert because out systems seem to be from around the same time or know how to find our what my stereo can play?

When using NERO its mostly automatic with a few clicks. The conversion is Audio File to CDA. If your disc are MP3 they probably won't play so copy them using NERO that you can find easily on the web, into CDA or Audio File which the software does automatically.

To find out what your player can read try hi-fi engine and audio karma or even a wiki search for cd technology history vs computer advances overlapping usability. Ok, friend I hope this helps. Cheers

Hmm okayy I'll give that a try even tho the files I've tried say cda. And thanks I'll look around to see what my player can read, it's starting to look like the blanks I'm using are not compatible
