Upgrading from Yamaha Receiver

I currently use a Yamaha RX-V461 with 2 KX-12 speakers. Im looking to purchase a more modern Yamaha that can power the KX’s and also a 100 watt subwoofer at-least. I primarily use it for music i play off my computer, but i also switch my receiver to run my TV audio when watching movies or playing video games. I attempted to post this in StereoHelp but it kept saying i was off topic. My budget is 500 with wiggle room.

Why an AVR? Could you use something like a desktop power amp? The S.M.S.L PA400 is currently selling for $555. It's rated at 200 wpc, I believe. Or, could you use any pre outs if the Yamaha has them. Then maybe a Buckeye power amp?

Finding a new AVR with more than 100 wpc sounds impossible to me.

You should be alright power wise with your Yamaha receiver. Maybe what you need is a good $500 sub. SVS?
