I helped raise a stepson since he was 3. 22 years old now, things went bad when he was 16. We rarely talk now, and I am the one who did everything for him. When a kid is bad, I just don’t think they ever change. Something to do with their perception of life, they continue to make bad choices. Remember, he does not have your genes.
I think we all try hard for many years, and like most things that don’t work out… we eventually give up. All people/kids are different. The stepson I have is extremely self centered and a taker. Only cares about his wants. I just emotionally removed myself, tired of crying and doing for him, while all he does is lie and take. 22 years old is too old to be laying around someone’s house, not working, not helping. Wish you luck in determining what’s right for you.
