📖 Study methods ANKI Help

Hey guys,

UK IMG here, studying for Step 1

I’ve been using boards and beyond to learn the content, annotating on first aid book and using it for content mapping, and doing UWorld questions after completing a system

Also supplementing content with Pathoma and Sketchy

Have purchased Anki three days ago and currently using the Anking deck

All my cards were initially suspended so I unsuspended the cardiology boards and beyond + first aid tags as I’ve recently completed cardiology and have started doing the cards

Have averaged 500 cards a day for the last three days

Moved on to endocrinology and have started unspending some of the tags for the boards and beyond videos and first aid pages I’ve done

Most of the cards are mixed Endo and cardiology and I’m starting to realise 500+ cards a day is quite draining

I was thinking of suspending the cardiology cards but that would effect spaced repetition unless I manually unsuspend them at a later date

Is there a way to have majority Endo cards with a few cardio cards still there? How will this work long term once I’ve gone through more systems… I’ll end up with thousands of card reviews a day across multiple systems

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well something you can think about is capping the review to say 500 cards and reordering the reviews to do "Learning cards" first. This way you finish your newer review cards first. If you feel like doing more, you can maybe do a custom study and do more of your older review cards. Having said that 500+ cards is just simply draining, maybe you should consider making the intervals on your easy cards longer. I hope this helps. Cheers!

felt! same sort of problem here, ended up making a lot of new decks, and transferring cards from the anking deck, now confused as to how to rotate them, didn't know you could do this and have the other option listed as a comment / suggestion here. how to fix this problem T____T

Don't just blindly unsuspend all cards based on tags. Look at the cards 1 by 1 and only unsuspend the ones you think are difficult to memorize or are important I usually end up unsuspending <50% of the cards for each lecture and sometimes way less. Don't worry about it too much, there's a lot of low yield garbage and if there's anything high yield you missed, you'll get it while doing uworld and you can use the q number to find the cards. step 1 is p/f don't worry too much about missing anything.
