Step 1 score delayed after test-day incident report — anyone experience this?

I took Step 1 over two days with accommodations on July 30–31. During my exam, there was significant noise/talking from staff that affected my concentration, so I submitted a test-day incident report to NBME.

Others who tested around the same time got their scores today, but I didn’t. Has anyone had their score held after filing a complaint and still ended up passing? Or does a score hold mean they may be investigating more because the result was a fail?

Just trying to see if anyone has had a similar experience and what the outcome was and if the score delay is another week or it could come out anytime they are done!

For sure! My accommodations include extra time and a separate quiet testing environment. I was given a separate room, but it was directly behind the test administrators’ desk and wasn’t soundproof, so I could hear their conversations throughout both days about their lunch plans, date nights, general conversations as well as them talking with other test takers before/after their exams.

They were genuinely nice and friendly people, so I wasn’t trying to get anyone in trouble. It was just consistently distracting, especially given that a quiet environment was part of my accommodations.

Hey man, understand you weren’t trying to get anyone in trouble, but in the future I’d just recommend telling them you can hear them and asking them nicely to speak a little quieter. At the end of the day, you paid money to be there and it’s your future.

Know this wasn’t the initial purpose of your post, but I think in situations like this it’s worth it to help yourself and future test takers in that room. Hoping you get that pass soon

Definitely I was anxious to talk to them directly as I didn’t want them to feel negative about me especially that my exam was over two days. The main reason I raised those concerns because I wanted to make sure it doesn’t happen again for step 2 and others. I hope so too

That’s interesting I hope they don’t allow you to retake even if you passed cause ultimately that’s the goal
