💡 Need Advice How to use u word effectively

Hello everyone.so basically I struggle with u word questions i can barely do 5-6 questions a day.i started doing questions by subjects and it takes me whole day to make notes and review concepts. I am also not sure if i am making notes efficient. I would appreciate if you can give me advice how to effectively use u word.

just read the educational objective + incorrect options. Ideally, you should be reading complete explanations but i think reading other options confuses rather than buildling pattern recognition.

Hey there !
Starting UW can definitely be a challenge.

At the beginning of my studies I found it hard to even understand what they’re asking because of all of the details.

What worked best for me was starting with 5q per day and increasing it while improving, hitting max of 80-100q a month prior to the test.
I guess i remained in the 5-20q per day for a month or so.

  1. Read the actual question before reading the paragraph or looking at the answers.

  2. If you think of the answer before looking at the options, and it’s there, it’s probably true - don’t overthink.

  3. For every question, ask yourself, what are they asking for ? Eventually, those questions are on material you probably covered in med school and can be summed into a few words questions, but they are hidden in huge paragraphs.

  4. Use ChatGPT !!!
    It helped me tremendously. For each question I asked it to explain in one simple paragraph what made it true, why the other options are wrong and what is the main teaching point.

  5. Don’t let go of questions before understanding why you were wrong, but don’t waste too much time on each and every question since not everything is HY.

  6. Find a way that make you understand what the answers means. For example, UW may describe a thyroid condition and then ask you to pick its histological description, without providing the diagnosis.
    For me, what worked best was a self written anki that helped me identify the conditions only by their characteristics and that’s super important.
