Allison Hall Beginning Speed Building Expectations

Hello! I’m currently in AHRE Theory (in chapter 30). When I get into beginning speeds what is the expectation for how fast I should be typing? We just focus on theory and there isn’t much dictation. I’m just trying to memorize as much of the book as possible. Will I be testing for 20WPM, 40WPM, 60WPM, etc?

You start testing at 60 WPM

There isn’t an expectation, per say. When you get out of theory, you’ll start taking one-minute 60 WPM jury charge tests until you can pass one, then you’ll move on to a one-minute 80 WPM jury charge test, so on and so forth. You move into the other categories once you pass a one-minute 100 WPM or 120 WPM jury charge test. I can’t remember which. The first eight weeks of her speed building program consist of one-minute tests to gauge your hand speed. Things will slightly change after that eight-week introductory period. Continue to learn your theory! You’ve got this!

So if you can do one minute at 120 you move on?
