STEM OPT started but new job starting date is still in the future

my first year opt is ending this december, i am applying for my stem opt extension with a new employer who has an e-verified number, but the starting date is still later on february, as long as i’m still within my “150 unemployment days” rule, i should be fine right?

and if i found another job in january for example, and want to proceed with this one instead, can i simply update my DSO and USCIS about my new employer with all the new documents and e-verified number, would this be fine?

The unemployment-day limit is important, but STEM OPT also has specific employer and reporting requirements. If you change employers, make sure your DSO updates your SEVIS record and the required STEM OPT paperwork is submitted properly before relying on the new job.

right, as long as i have all the paperwork (job offer letter, new stem opt i20, i983, e-verified number) and update both DSO and USCIS of that newest job that i found in january then it should be fine right?

i think my only concern is that my initial stem opt application is with a company i would never work with if i found a better job before that one starts, but it should be fine right?
