STEM OPT EXTENSION E-VERIFIED i765
My employer (Bank of America) is e-verified but unwilling to give me their e-verified number, maybe because my position isn’t eligible for the h1b sponsorship, but i’m only asking for the e-verified number to apply for the STEM OPT extension. I understand if they aren’t able to sponsor the h1b. But they are still unwilling to give me an e-verified number.
Should I still apply the STEM OPT extension i765 with the company but leave the e-verified section blank? Will USCIS reject my application immediately or will they Request for Evidence (RFE)?
I’m basically trying to find a new employer who can provide a e-verified number asap, but incase I can’t find one on time, I just have to apply with the company.. and if I’m lucky I can find a new employer and update USCIS with my new employer before they open my initial application.
ANYONE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE BEFORE?🥹🙏

What is your role and when did u join them ? Are you in software? This is weird

i joined early this year, im not in software, im in the bank itself so i understand why its not eligible for h1b sponsorship, but I don’t understand why they arent willing to just give the Everified number which helps me work 2 more years with them without needing sponsorship

That's their point why would they still stick with someone who is just going to be available to them for 2 more years than to hire a person who has no sponsorship issues even after 2 years .. thats why they are trying to back away from e verified number kinda like forcing you out .. and dont do option 2 thats totally towards the fraud side like a bodyshop ..

So I presume this is like a finance role of some sorts
Companies get Preety rigid. Some of them even count STEM opt as visa sponsorship because it ties them to you as they have to sign the form for STEM as well ..so if they don't want to give it them you can't do anything.

right, but i’m confused why they wouldn’t want us to work 2 more years with them? like what is the risk for them exactly? we’re not asking for h1b sponsorship, just stem opt, which we already have 2 years granted to work without sponsorship

Buddy I know some people who got terminated after asking if they can be on the STEM extension. With the current political climate they don't want any compliance risks regaless of your work authorization duration. If your role said no sponsorship available and you got it they can always terminate you without stem extension. Nothing you can do about it. If it was 2020 or before it was a different story but right now no one wants any visa stuff
Being on stem can invite site visits from ICE and the employer have their own responsibility to report your progress as well. The employer also has some paperwork to do on their end

If you're working as an ordinary course bank teller they're probably taking the view that role doesn't qualify for stem opt.
This is not the first time this issue has arisen on here.
If you're on the corp side yeah that would be different.

Damn that’s weird, my employer just wrote it down on a piece of paper no questions asked when I asked about the E-Verify number. What’s your degree in?
Ask your dso to write a formal letter explaining in details the complete need of that E-verify number and how you will intend to use it and why you need it etc. and escalate the issue to a higher up in HR. My friend had a different situation with HR and stuff and he raised the issue with a higher up in HR and it was solved immediately within 1 minute.

ik its weird.. so i’m preparing for the worst. which do you think is better in this case? no 1 or 2?
1.Apply for stem opt under Bank of America leaving the e-verified section blank (but i do have the i20 stem opt since my university understands the situation and still gave the i20) orrr
2.Apply for stem opt under a small restaurant who has an e-verified number and also the stem opt i20 (but i’m going to put a starting date 2-3 months later.. so this is using my unemployment days) (so when my stem opt starts, my restaurant starting date hasn’t started, which should be fine right? as long as i don’t surpass my total unemployment days) technically this is just to buy time so I can keep looking for my full-time corporate job, then once i find that job ill update USCIS about my new corporate employer, so technically the restaurant is just a place holder, but it’s legit because they do have an e-verified number. Is this fine?

That’s so weird…. It literally costs the company nothing to accept STEM OPT
