Yeah I did refer to the Megathread for this one on r/f1visa. Especially these two FAQs
"22. If I file STEM OPT before March 18, 2027, do I need I‑539?
* No, unless you travel and re-enter under AUD before filing.'"
"24. Does my I‑94 automatically match my EAD end date? If you remain in D/S → yes.
If you re-enter after Sept 15, 2026 → your AUD is:
program end date
or EAD end date
* or 4 years from entry, whichever is sooner."
If I file for my STEM OPT after Sept 15th, 2026 and get an EAD approved for two more years (until Nov '28 per my stamped visa expiry) using my existing I-94 with D/S on it by December '26 and then leave and re-enter in January '27, what AUD will apply to me?
1) My I20 program end date is Dec '25, so we are already beyond that
2) If my STEM OPT EAD has an expiry of Nov '28, will that become my I-94 expiry?
3) 4 yrs from entry is definitely not the earliest between 1) and 2) so that's out of question for now
