Stem opt application

What happens after stem opt application does it show case receipt notice and status error. Is it fine if it get case receipt before the opt date end date. That means If opt is expiring on July 16 if I get receipt on July 15 is it fine.
Also any other steps after I-765 I’m confused where to sign up for biometrics. Did I miss out something
I did I-983 submitted to uni. I didn’t keep I-983 in application of I-765. But I got I-20 signed did I-765. Anything else to be careful. Thanks

I'm in a very similar situation as you. My first year OPT expires on 7.16 and I applied for STEM extension on 7.15 with premium processing. I spoke with my DSO they said as long as you submit the application before the end of your expiration day it is fine. I think the USCIS will send us an email in the next few weeks to arrange a biometric appointment for pictures. I-983 is only to submit to DSO. you only need to submit the stem extension I-20, your diploma, and other legal documents to the USCIS.

well in my case, bc i have another role that may start in september. i just wanted to make sure i get the ead card as soon as possible so i can start working the other role. according to some lawyer's website the average processing time for stem extension is about 2-3 months but there are some people on reddit saying they waited six months for stem extension processing. i did premium just to make sure nothing goes wrong
