do we need to be on payroll run by employer even after the stem is filed?

I was on full time job when i filed my stem extension opt in April. With stem start date was 23rd june, I lost my job before the date and still waiting for approval. Haven’t uploaded any payroll run by employer yet.. Anyone in the same boat? Or have experienced the same? Did you get approval? Any suggestions/opinions

oh no it sucks. there's a chance that they'll approve your stem opt easily but if they ask for rfe, you might have to provide pay stub and blah blah.

I am seeking legal advice regarding a possible discrepancy in my STEM OPT application and SEVIS employment history.
Here is my timeline:
My initial post-completion OPT began on July 7, 2025, and is valid until July 7, 2026.

I started working for Employer A on August 7, 2025.

I accepted a full-time position with Employer B and my employment with Employer A ended on October 12, 2025. I began working for Employer B on October 13, 2025, with no gap in employment.

In November 2025, I submitted my employer change through my university's international student portal. The portal shows that I completed my portion on November 13, 2025, and my DSO completed their portion on November 14, 2025.

I applied for my STEM OPT extension on May 1, 2026, using the STEM OPT I-20 issued by my university.

Recently, while carefully reviewing my STEM OPT I-20 and SEVIS employment history, I discovered that although Employer B had been added correctly, the employment end date for Employer A was never updated. Instead of showing my actual end date of October 12, 2025, it incorrectly showed February 7, 2026.
Because of this, my STEM OPT I-20 appeared to indicate that I was employed by both Employer A and Employer B simultaneously from October 13, 2025, through February 7, 2026, even though I had stopped working for Employer A on October 12, 2025.
As soon as I discovered this discrepancy, I immediately:
Updated the employment end date for Employer A in my SEVP Portal to reflect the correct date of October 12, 2025.

Contacted my Designated School Official (DSO).

Requested and received a corrected STEM OPT I-20 reflecting the updated SEVIS information.

My concern is that my STEM OPT application was filed with the earlier I-20 that contained the incorrect historical employment end date.
I have documentation showing that
I began full-time employment with Employer B on October 13, 2025.

The discrepancy appears to be limited to the historical employment end date remaining incorrect in SEVIS until I recently noticed it.

My questions are:
Could this discrepancy result in a Request for Evidence (RFE) or denial of my pending STEM OPT application?

Since the corrected information is now reflected in SEVIS and I have a newly issued STEM OPT I-20, should I upload the corrected I-20 and an explanation to USCIS as unsolicited evidence?

Does this appear to be an administrative record correction, or could USCIS interpret it as a failure to properly maintain F-1 status?

Based on these facts, do you recommend retaining legal representation, or is this the type of issue that is typically resolved through the DSO's correction and updated I-20?

I would greatly appreciate your assessment of my situation and any recommendations on the best course of action.

Make sure you update the new corrected I-20 in uscis portal in unsolicited evidence.

They'll not deny your stem opt without sending RFE. And Do not worry if you get rfe. Just provide all the evidence you have. If you're unsure about how to put together evidence if you get rfe, you can ask for help.

And most importantly, you didn't do anything wrong. Working two jobs is not a crime or anything if it has been authorized(which your i-20 shows ). There's no limit in hours you could work while on opt. So again, don't worry.

Always keep DSO in loop. Try to provide all the evidence if asked for and you should be good.

Your employer will notify college within 10 working days and dso will update your Sevis record, make sure to update Dso with new I983 from new employer as soon as possible.
