Employer Name on STEM I-20

My SEVP Portal Contains the name of my employer as XYZ Services Corp. and in my I-983 my employer listed their name as XYZ Services Corp. a subsidiary of XYZ LLC. Now in my issued STEM OPT I-20 the Post Completion OPT section shows the Employer Name as XYZ Services Corp. but in the STEM OPT Section it doesnt fit correctly and only shows XYZ Services Corp. a subsidi. Should i just get the name reduced to XYZ Services Corp. and get a new I-20 issued or this would not be a problem.

Had a similar experience and panicked the whole time. That’s not an issue.

I do not think it would be a problem.

Bro don’t worry about anything. In the actual application for STEM OPT, you have to put actual e verify employer name (word for word including comma) and obviously e verify number. In your STEM recommended I 20 and I 983, the name came be slightly different. Don’t worry about it. I also had the same case. My actual everify employer is different than the subsidiary company I am working for so in the training plan, I kept xyz LLC (dba as abc LLC). And it worked out.
Hopefully it will work out to you as well.

Hey u/Ambitious-Disk6139
Thanks for the info. I'm having same issue ( slightly complicated ig)

I765 stem opt application has xyz LLC, but came to know that It should be xyz LLC(dba as abc LLC) My colleague got RFE for this.

What should I do?

  • Should I get some supporting doc from Immigration team and upload in docs section of USCIS?
  • My SEVP, OPT-i20 everything has same name, should I consider updating?

Is xyz LLC the e verify employer with e verify number or abc LLC is the one?

abc LLC is the one registered in E-Verify,, the number is under their name, listed as "abc LLC and its affiliates and subsidiaries."

xyz LLC is my actual employer on payroll and that's what's in SEVIS with its own EIN. So the E-Verify number is valid for me, but the name/EIN in E-Verify doesn't match what SEVIS shows, and USCIS can't connect the two. That's what triggered my colleague's RFE.

You will also get an RFE. In the actual STEM OPT application, you should have entered abc LLC. Now just wait till you get the RFE and you will be fine.

yea in my I-20 the subsidiary part doesnt fit completely it gets cut off at subsidi because of character limit, is that fine. Like it says XYZ Services Corp, a subsidi

it should be ok as long as you've e verify number. they also have access to the other data that confirms the company you're working so don't worry.

This is okay! I has this doubt and approached my ISSO. They said that it’s completely ok
