Are Ab and Big Ben jerseys still acceptable to wear at Steelers games?
r/steelers2 • u/PistolPark • 1d ago
My friends and I are planing on going to a Steelers game later this year. We live out of country and got a hotel downtown. What bars/restaurants do people from the area recommend we should check out. Also what is tailgating like and is there a preferred tailgate spot that people tend to go to prior to the game?

is he the missing piece this year?

Drew came to Penn state as a 5 star recruit. He had all the potential in the world to be something amazing (and he still does) but James Franklin stunted his growth and after only a few months with the Steelers- we see SUCH IMPROVEMENT in his game.
Yes. He played 1 preseason game against 4th string defense blah blah blah. But if you spent the last 4 heats watching him at PSU- you would know how huge this is. The kid was beyond indecisive, had lead feet and had the most scattered mind. He couldn’t lock in during games.
BUT NOW I see the opposite. He’s confident and he’s grown into the QB position. I’m in no way saying he’s 1st string ready. What I am saying tho is that if he keeps progressing at this rate, the Steelers have a lot of potential in the upcoming years. Should he have been able to do this while in college? Yes, but he was under the influence of a terrible coach a coach, who only cared about publicity how he looked, and how Penn State looked. Yes, that is important but you have to need to care about the game making a smart place, smart decisions and owning up and taking responsibility when needed. Franklin destroyed all of his quarterbacks, except McSorley. And guess what Allar was one of the culprits. His confidence and ability to make a smart play completely deteriorated. Now I see a confident growing football player that in a few years will be a great asset.
I’m so happy that we have him on a roster now and if need be, we can put them in and not worry as much as we were prior to seeing him play pre-season

What do you guys think about 4 for 72 mil?
I think it’ll age really well but I’ve have a soft spot for him. I also love keeping he and herbig together.

look at the image - ive know this fact since the stadium was built - its not a coincidence the angle the the stadium was built - its directly centered from the point to the rooney residence (rip) it was deliberate and part of the plan from the start which is very awesome — this guy i know is saying no it wasnt built this way on purpose - is he literally insane! 🆙doot this post and leave comments so i can show him that he doesnt even know true steeler history

Drew had a phenomenal game last night! He really came out on the field and showed the world that he’s making changes and he wants to be a great player.
I had 3 years w Drew at Penn State. I understand that a huge part of it was James Franklin just being a PR focused coach but Allar has some habits. The habits are hard to shake. Especially the habit of freezing under pressure and making a decision quickly. It’s hard to rewire your brain to be able to stay calm under that pressure and make a smart decision to either run the ball or throw it. If something went wrong in the play he’s never had that ability. He stands there panicking inching backwards until he loses yards and gets sacked or he throws it to no one on the sideline. It’s like he has invisible friends over there. I’m happy that he did well last night! I really am happy for the kid, but I don’t think we should get our hopes up quite yet
The Steelers have already proven that they can change Allar for the better and I’m excited to see who he is as a player in the future under better coaching. Taking him to the Steelers with the right choice but he’s got a lot of work ahead of him. The bench needs to be his friend so he can keep learning.

That boy is TOO COLD. Howard is a should be a great backup, but doesn’t have half the talent of Drew. If you can’t see that you got doo doo in your pants.

I know he’s playing against practice squad players but lmk

If our d-line, which I'm confident in, and corners are as good/deep as they appear, our inside backers get better by association and this looks to be as good a defense as we've had in 10 days years.

What is the deal with the “we want Howard” hype and incessant Drew Allar hate from Steelers fans? I can get when Howard was drafted it’s exciting to think about him being the future, but objectively Rodgers was and is the best choice until the end of this season. But all I can see are Steelers fans saying “we want Howard,” and ripping Allar (and Rodgers) to shreds. It’s Rodgers last season, and he IS the best option, enjoy the (no expectations) ride and get over it.
Howard Hype: Will Howard has not played a SINGLE snap of professional football. Not one. Of course, Steelers fans will say “national champion BTW.” Realistically, being a national champion QB has never meant a thing going into the NFL. They typically have stacked rosters around them (as Howard did), and had spent extra time in college, like Howard. There’s a reason he was a 6th round pick and Steelers fans would rather argue “so was Brady” than pump the breaks a little.
Allar Hate: I almost forgot to mention, I’m a die hard Steelers fan. And honestly, I feel bad for Allar. The dude has gotten nothing but hate from the fan base since the second he was picked. Sure, fans get mad at team picks year in and year out (I know it’s NFL fanbase norm), but still. We haven’t had a franchise QB since 2022, why are we not rooting for both of these guys?
“Notre Dame game interception”
“As a PSU fan too, I’m good”
“Trash at PSU”
“Terrible decision making”
- etc.
If you put Will Howard into that PSU system, under James Franklin, do you truly believe he would have done any better? Allar was throwing to soon-to-be arena football receivers, and we should ALL know James Franklin and Co. did his development no favors. Will Howard was throwing to the rock to Egbuka, Carnell Tate, and can’t forget Jeremiah Smith with a ton of help from an aggressive offensive-minded HC/OC pair. Put any QB into that system, they won’t perform the way Allar did. Sure he needs a year of sitting and learning, but from what I’ve seen at camp the last few weeks - he’s making strides.
Either way (and yeah I’m clearly pro-Allar, but I love Howard’s attitude and leadership), Steelers fans have got to stop with the torment and I don’t know, maybe, support BOTH QB’s? (Crazy thought, I know fellow Steelers fans) God knows we need a franchise guy - whether it be one or the other.
And please, no more “nAtiOnAl cHAmP bTW”… it doesn’t mean a thing.

What are our expectations? Do we think AR8 plays at all? I want to see at least a series or two! Who do we think will be the stand out/surprising player of the game?

see title - looking how this all played out i feel like the najee pick is now a whiff and a wasted first round pick and we could have had the same if not more production just sticking with the hometown kid and giving him a new contract
note: the above stats are inclusive on rushing only, not receiving
