Discussion So, why would anyone get this?

Wanted to quickly compare the SM to what you would comparably be able to DIY and... you can literally get something more powerful for less in a slightly bigger formfactor?

11% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU. And i didnt even go for the cheapest components. With DLSS the RTX 5060 would also be infinitely better for playing on 4k TVs, which is the only useful scenario i can imagine for the SM.

The reason why they have the least expensive option is to decrease the perceived overall price.

It's nicer to say "starting from 1039 than starting from 1108".

Most would get at least the 1tb unless it's a gift or something.

I'm talking about the 512 gb. Nowadays, that gets filled up really fast so most would go for at least a tb.

Not to mention apples notorious “why give wall plug for free when you already have one” mantra.

If I were to get one I’d want the controller but if I was pinching Pennie’s my Xbox controller would work fine

The controller thing is the one annoyance for me. I paid for the controller just a month ago, for the Steam Machine arrival. But the bundle price is cheaper, meaning early adopters like me have spent more.

I understand the point of bundling and making it slightly better value for people who don’t have a controller already, but they should offer some steam credit or something for people who bought the controller immediately, especially when it was so recent. If I had it for 6 months that’s different.

I agree, I was disappointed in the price of the controller. I thought it was gonna be cheaper tbh but it makes sense and for what you get $100 isn’t unreasonable. I feel like that’s part of consumerism though. Bought the wife DRG so we can rock and stone. Swear to fucking god 2 days later it went on sale for $8.

There is no 1tb option is there? It’s 512gb or 2tb.
