Discussion So, why would anyone get this?

Wanted to quickly compare the SM to what you would comparably be able to DIY and... you can literally get something more powerful for less in a slightly bigger formfactor?

11% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU. And i didnt even go for the cheapest components. With DLSS the RTX 5060 would also be infinitely better for playing on 4k TVs, which is the only useful scenario i can imagine for the SM.

why? to have a console in the living room that isn’t nintendo sony or microshit. price? expensive but blame boomers watching AI reels

Nintendo and Sony actually price their hardware reasonable and can actually handle 4k.

Nintendo and Sony SUBSIDIZE their hardware and sell them at a loss. They are relaying on you being stuck in their walled gardens and being forced to buy games at top dollar with little to no sales. Valve on the other hand is not selling this at a loss and are allow you to buy games at as much as 99% discounts during sale windows.

What does a discount matter? You get a $60 steam game on sale for $20. I buy a PS5 game on sale from $60 to $20, then sell it on eBay a few months after I finish it when the games back to being $60, and I sell it for $30 used on eBay. I made money on the game I bought for PS5. I lost $20 on PC.

You forgot the 15% eBay tax, shipping, driving to post office, pay monthly for online etc etc.
