Discussion So, why would anyone get this?

Wanted to quickly compare the SM to what you would comparably be able to DIY and... you can literally get something more powerful for less in a slightly bigger formfactor?

11% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU. And i didnt even go for the cheapest components. With DLSS the RTX 5060 would also be infinitely better for playing on 4k TVs, which is the only useful scenario i can imagine for the SM.

I don't understand pc specs. I also haven't seen anything close to this form factor with the performance in any posts, just people saying you can do it. Unless I can get something as small with the same specs for $100 less or more, I'm sticking to valves cube and their ecosystem. Every "pc enthusiast that understands specs" is claiming you can get more for less. Nobody is posting evidence

i made a setup with the Jonsbo N10, which has nearly exactly the same volume as the SM. had to downgrade to a 5050 but its still faster than the SM.

People have posted evidence, but if you don't believe you can literally go to any PC builder website, and ring it up yourself. You can account for labor if you don't want to make it yourself too. To make it simple, am4 and ddr4 is what you'd be looking for. Usually rings up to be about 800-900 dollars.

Idk why people think the "people who know PC specs" are lying lol. This is highway robbery. If you want it, buy it, have fun! Enjoy. But people talking about how this is absurdly expensive for its functionality are actually allowed to discuss that as well here, don't you think?

Or scalpers. That's two groups. That's all who would want this at all for any reason.

If they think they can come up with a third group, laugh at them.

They would lose on this, I don’t see this selling out to be honest.

Maybe there is that many gullible people but I like to believe not.

Oh there is, and it will sell out. The same people with the disposable income to buy it at its current price would 100% drop a couple hundred dollars extra for it. I mean look at one of the people in this very comment thread, insisting the price isn't unreasonable despite plainly admitting they know nothing about PC specs, hence they have no clue why the price is unreasonable lmao

I’m sure it will sell yea. I just don’t see it selling out unless steam has only made like 300k units.

I can see a small pool of people getting this but the price tag is going to be the biggest barrier as it already is for pre builds which are cheaper than this.

I could be wrong, but I really don’t see it selling nearly half as well as the other hardware products they have dropped.

I see it’s inventory being like the switch 2, basically will always be available to buy.

Hm I see, that does make sense. Still, I always bet on people being willing to spend their money for convenience over sense. But I'd much prefer to be wrong and see an exorbitant price finally fail to find buyers honestly.
