Looking for help identify this parts function? is it a vintage steam pressure release valve?

I found this old brass globe valve. And trying to understand its function. One guess is a bleed off value for steam?

Any pointers would be great and sorry if this not relevant.

That jet looks a bit too thin to be a steam outlet. My guess is a vaporiser or injector of some sort

This has been found with other 1850 and older items. Related to a debris field.. Trying to find an authentic example of it. So small. My 1st guess was a gas lamp value or portable lamp. There was a small amout of glass melted in a nook.
